The
NDP is the party most DUers would likely support if y'all lived up here. It's the only national party that has a platform of social democracy and social justice. It's the party of Tommy Douglas, a prairie Baptist preacher turned politician who believed in the worth of the common man and gave Canada its health care system. You could say Jack Layton is our Howard Dean.
Oh, FYI since it doesn't come across in his spoken words, when Layton says "Liberals and Conservatives", both words are intended to be capitalized. They are the political party names rather than just ideological identifiers. The Liberals aren't really all that liberal, and the Conservatives are just more of the right-wing, revolutionary, utopian demagogues you have seen so much of in the Republican party.
