His reputation is clearly overblown.

He starts out complaining about local print media relying on two newspapers the NYT and WaPo for their national and international news coverage (isn't that how he sold this war?)

Karl it is "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" not "John Daily"

People are blogging

Seems to want accountability for the web (DailyKos and Wonkette)

"What level of responsibility constrains you in what you say and what you do?" at the 5:30 mark after talking about how bloggers don't have the financial pressure that newspapers and TV networks do.

Admits that the Richmond Times-Dispatch is a Republican paper and that the editor is "installed" ~5:45

He seems to think that Drudge comments on the news. This was part of his mentioning that bloggers rely on the MSM for the news to comment on, he must not read many blogs.

1. Rove's comments on the NYT are subtle and telling --

He makes the immediate assumption, that he projects to be true without question, that the NYT is not providing news but is providing a point of view.

He's very good. He pudgy, bald exterior and soft voice make him seem non-threatening. And he speaks with great confidence as he misleads his audience.

He sure didn't bitch about 'media consolidation' when it was working FOR him and his dill-hole cronies!
Screw you, KKKarl!
It's a whole new world, buddy. Get used to it.

3. Thanks for the laugh
the idea that Karl weeps because blogs don't have the journalistic standards of Fred Hyatt or Judith Miller or the hacks at the Post is high comedy.

Actually, it's kind of doubly ironic. If you take his words literally, he probably IS bothered that bloggers don't have the same "standards" as trained journalists.

Cry me a river, Rover.

4. The "financial pressures" part was telling as well
see without those pressure anyone can get on the internets and post their opinion how is the power elite going to control information and frame the debate when that happens?
