What would St. Pats the most democratic of holidays / party days be
without this song? Oh, Danny Boy I miss you so.

1. So sad it is the last one ever
as Colbert explained on his show the other night.

I'm stocking up on Beamish.

PS That guy has a great voice.

singer Frank Tenaglia

the story legend has it this was from a mother to a son as he was
going to America and leaving Ireland .... true or not I don't know

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

And if you come, when all the flowers are dying
And I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And kneel and say an "Ave" there for me.

And I shall hear, tho' soft you tread above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to tell me that you love me
I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to me.

I'll simply sleep in peace until you come to m

5. Whoa..
Thank you SO much for that, Botany.

I never hear that song without crying.

It has special significance for my family, and I have been hoping to hear it all day today.

9. Thank you again, Botany
Yes, you're right, there really are a lot of bad versions of Danny Boy out there, but both of these were beautiful.

Got me crying all over again, but thanks.
