would be also kewl-er if all those links weren't posted double-spaced under each & every tyt video posted. can we choose maybe 10 faves instead of 40? if everyone did it for 'their' videos on DU, it would be downright ridiculous... a little restraint would be kewl-est

5. Funny (although I don't endorse the use of the term "kewl", call me old fashioned)

1)-TYT is all original content. Many of the same videos end up being posted posted 2 or 3 times (clips from MSNBC, CNN, etc.). If you miss a TYT clip there's no chance that some other DUer will repost it later on in the day, the next day, etc.

2)-My posting lots of links in the message body doesn't effect anybody negatively. I post old favorites and more recent videos. If you don't want to click them don't, but they don't take up space on the homepage or bump other videos off the homepage (see polite rant for details). :)

Did I hit a sore spot with you for some reason or are you just THAT bothered by my message bodies that you chose to complain about them rather than complaining about OCD posters that put out 3+ videos back to back to back within a span of minutes?

I'm not saying anything, I'm just sayin'.

No biggie, just a suggestion and actually yes, I just posted a comment yesterday about the 7 videos in a row posted for Bill Maher's show which cleared more than half the board and pushed some good vids off the home page. However, they don't really hurt anyone either. People can see all the videos on the main videos page if they go there. It actually might be a good thing because it may start encouraging folks to go see all the videos and not just the ones recently posted. So just depends on how you look at it I guess.

The reason I mention the 40 postings of the links is that it actually seems to be overkill - and if everyone did it in every post, I think it would turn folks away from DU. Anyone can do what they want here obviously, and so I made a suggestion. I'll just avoid the TYT postings because yes, it is annoying to me to scroll thru 40 double-spaced links, just as those folks that write their entire conversation in 'subject' lines only, all the way down the comments page, refusing to post in a single message itself.

I'm guessing you've seen those. They don't really hurt anyone either but I find them annoying as well. Suggestions are merely that.

10. Let's agree to disagree

Wiping posts off the homepage with a zillion videos posted at once is in no way a good thing and it doesn't encourage more looking in the video section, at least it hasn't so far.

For many people here it's out of sight, out of mind. Ask anyone who posts original content how many views they get if their video stays on the homepage for a while vs being wiped off in an hour or two. Better yet, ask people who post videos that aren't eligible to show up in the little video screens on the homepage (because they were posted on youtube more than 3 days ago) how many views/recs/comments they get (the answer is almost always very few).

Two DUers have already weighed in to say they actually *enjoy* the links and my guess is that most people here just don't care one way or the other. Maybe they think spending the extra 2 seconds to scroll up or down is no big deal? :)

I appreciate constructive criticism, but the delivery is important. And honestly, a PM would have been more respectful.

12. Are you talking about that DUer

that posted a ton of videos with some guy (can't remember the name and I don't like to call people out by name unless it's absolutely necessary) and then responded to her(?) own thread over and over and over again?

Maybe I'm thinking of something else?

Or are you talking about people who only write short responses in the subject line and never write anything in the message body? I do both personally, depending on the situation.

it creates a cascade of messages in 'subject' lines that run down the video page but you can read it as a coherent message if you read the subject lines in order top to bottom - been seeing it more and more

John Turley said something interesting about this last night on the Olbermann show. Something about Bushit would have to state the illegal acts that he would be pardoning. I can't remember all of it.
