1. Thanks, Bill! Lamont
was perfect I was far as I can see.

He understands lie-man is good at being a victim and Obama doesn't want the distraction now. :)

2. I think we'll likely see him in the Senate
sometime soon. Dodd is going to retire and Lieberman will be ripe for the picking if he doesn't retire too.

13. Obama is smart: it's all about the math
There are 58 senate seats on our side including Joe Lieberman's and we can win 2 more. Joe votes 90% of the time on our side on domestic isses. Obama's #1 priority is the economy, he doesn't want that agenda to be derailed by the repugs. That's all.

6. The Senate Dems screwed Lamont in 2006
They kept telling Lamont that they would persuade Lieberman to drop his general election challenge. After Lieberman won, these same Senate Dems gave Lieberman a standing ovation. The Senate is a "good old boy" country club and they don't want newcomers if they can help it.

9. quite simply, lieberman became the de facto republican nominee
republicans knew that schlessinger had no chance and lamont was practically guaranteed to win unless they all voted for lieberman. from their point of view, lieberman was the lesser of two evils.

the actual republican nominee, schlessinger, got less than 10% of the vote. obviously, republicans got the word that lieberman was the "real" republican nominee and they voted for him in droves. lamont got 40% of the vote, so obviously the democrats were pretty strongly for him.

lieberman got 50% of the vote, so he got mostly republicans, plus some independents who probably voted for him largely for the usual "incumbent" reasons.

to be clear, lieberman could not have won without massive support from the republicans. this goes a long way to explain his behavior over the last couple of years. he owes his job to rush limbaugh et al.

8. Alison Stewart did a fine job filling in for Rachel.
MSNBC should give people like her or Shuster their own show. Throw a couple shows at the wall and see what sticks. It worked with Rachel.

12. Speaking as someone in broadcasting...
...She and Shuster do a great job bouncing around as anchors and show host fill-ins. I feel like their talents shouldn't be wasted by holding them down to one specific hour. They are the "super-subs" if you will.
