They are certainly smart when it comes to political games and scams to get their hands on trillions of dollars. But they both lack some of the most basic cognitive skills.

Neither Bush nor Cheney live in reality so neither will their recollections of it. If you watched the entire interview even Laura Bush states that everyone comes up to her to tell her husband thanks for keeping us safe. Strikingly naive to say the least but ignorant to say the most given the last NIE report says that war has helped create a new generation of Islamic radicalism and that the overall terrorist threat has grown since the September 11th attacks. The report is titled Trends in Global Terrorism.
