WARE: Well, Wolf, the most extraordinary thing. You may or may not believe this. We’re getting reports from the press pool that flew in with President Bush and apparently just a short, short time ago in a press conference with Prime Minister Maliki, an Iraqi man stood up in the press conference and threw a shoe at President Bush. Bu the reports we’re getting, it just sailed past his head and while the man was dragged out of the room, President Bush is said to have remarked that, “This was a size 10 shoe he threw at me you may want to know,” even as the man was heard screaming in the hallway.

McClatchy identified the man as Iraqi television journalist Muthathar al Zaidi and reports he threw both of his shoes at Bush just after he finished prepared remarks.

The New York Times notes that the first shoe “narrowly missed” and the second shoe also missed. “This is a farewell kiss, you dog,” the Zaidi shouted.

Apparently, Bush was unfazed by the incident. “I didn’t feel the least bit threatened by it,” he said.

5. Kudos to the man...
If only our own reporters had one tenth of this man's courage/spirit, instead of being the whipped dogs that they are.

15. It's incredibly insulting in Iraq. But, also, Bush almost got his skull walloped good.

19. It might take more than a boot to the head to wake up that man.
I find a little shame in taking such pleasure out of this incident. But hey, short of impeachment, I'll take what I can get.

:)

10. God bless this man, Muthathar al Zaidi ....courage beyond the pale.
This man, Muthathar al Zaidi, had the courage to say and do what all these ass kissing journalists are too cowardly to express.

I tip my hat to this brave man. I also hope we continue to hear how he is doing, this brave Muthathar al Zaidi. There is a man I am proud of.

I want to see this criminal administration swing from the rope that hung Saddam.

14. Bush didn't feel threatened? Maybe he should, if the Secret Service
can't stop things from being thrown at his head.

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/12/iraqi-man-throw.html

There is no way this man is not going to be in some serious trouble. This is an established insult throughout the Middle East but it's usually not done with such, err.. GUSTO.

My heart goes out to this man. The whole world feels his pain.

You know how much he must've wanted to be in that press room! (Probably wasn't allowed)
