And Mitt Romney, who's father ran American Motors into the ground (AMC was the company with "The Pacer" and "The Gremlin"), sits there and lies with a straight face on national TV - spewing the de-bunked notion that union folks make $ 73.00 per hour.

And that Nissan, Honda and Toyota "make cars in the U.S." They "assemble" them in the U.S. Mr. Romney - they are not "manufactured" here. And you know the difference, sir.

And I was waiting for Jennifer to jump all over the Health Care issue - as well she did.

There is a special place in hell for the Romney's.

My 2 cents from a cat that lives in Michigan.

2. I love our Gov
She has been on fire, and straight to the point, on this auto loan nightmare. As has Lt. Gov. Cherry. How wonderful to live in a state where our Governor and Lt. Governor talk with each other, and are actually on the same page! (Sorry, Illinois)

As for Willard Romney, he embodies all that is wrong with this country. I wish he would just go away.

5. You know what? He did try to fix the $73/hr mistake at the end
when he said, "Labor costs plus legacy costs." That's about right. But how does he propose we get rid of legacy costs? Euthanize all the retirees?

Somebody on another thread traced back the source of the "autoworkers make $70+ per hour" myth. They found a reporter had added in retiree pensions and benefits to labor costs, then divided by the number of active employees. This error was picked up as a factoid by many others, though, who love to exaggerate the autoworkers' compensation.

BTW, senior autoworkers make about $28/hr. Newer hires make $14/hr. So the next time you hear some idiot say they make $80/hr., tell them the correct number is $14 to $28 per hour.
