2. "Reaching out" could have meant inviting him to the White House
Instead he was given a feature role at the highest profile event in the Obama administration for the first four years..

12. I saw that, and why does he blind each time he speaks?
I'm not satisified with the "reaching across the blah, blah, blah," bullshit. They're playing games and the GLBT community are the pawns.

3. What I get from all this "bipartisan reaching out"
is that they will probably not prosecute Bush or his people. They're gonna get away with it.

5. Not to knock Obama, but I got that impression from an interview on the capital steps when he first
won his Senate seat in 04. He was all about the future, sort of "let by gones be by gones" while we Dems were calling for Bush's head. It took me a long time to warm up to Obama after that. Strange after holding such anger toward BushCo for so long, Obama's speeches of hope for the future softened that anger - sort of like the vent on a pressure cooker. But now, just the thought that BushCo might walk away awakens my rage and I tend to lash out at just about everyone and anything that talks about reaching out. Then I get pissed at myself for getting so pissed. Anger management has become difficult for me these days. It was so easy when things were a straight blue and red.

I just cannot see the rest of the world allowing Bushco get away with it, and I continue to hope Obama's bipartisanship doesn't extend THAT far.

18. The rest of the world is not going to sit back and watch these
war criminals get off, but will this new administration be complicit and say this is "water under the bridge"? Heinous Crimes were committed under the bush regime. Will we remain silent on this? I hope not.

What did they do to prevent Johnson, Nixon, Kissinger, Reagan, Bush and Clinton getting off the hook?

Work with these people. Get to a house party and make sure that your friends get there too. The revolution begins anew today, with all of us working to solve these injustices. Peace, Kim

8. Screw Biden AND Obama!
I say we just keep bashing at each other until one side can no longer breathe! I think we should sit on our couches and judge these lying mothers until they are no longer in a position to improve our situation. I can tell that Joe is nothing but a lier! Now...can we please wait until these guys are actually in office and give them at least half the patience that we gave Shooter and his cowboy friend? Enough already!

10. Are you LGBT?
I'm a lesbian and it's not as easy for me to be as magnanimous as straight people.
I'm tired, frickin' bone weary of waiting and to be told to shut up and wait
some more while we make friends with the folks that use a lot of their money and
time to make sure that I'm as marginalized as possible...it's frustrating and it
hurts. I hope that Obama is right because if he's wrong it will be at the expense
of women and gays.

11. I don't have to be LGBT to realize the magnitude of the problem.
Unfortunately it appears that the gay community thinks that only gays can understand and know the solution to the problem. We have a huge mess here in this country. Nothing but hard work and open ears will solve the problem. I'm gonna give Obama a chance to get in office before I give up on him. Peace to you and yours, Kim

14. As a gay person, I agree with you completely
This Reverend guy is the LEAST of our worries, and, in the long run, means nothing negative to gay people, and sends a message about openness and respect for all human beings being a part of the solution, even those with whom we don't agree.

15. The "gay community" isn't even talking about solutions
we're talking about respect and not giving a bigot such a huge honor.
But I'll sit down and shut up now. Gays know what a huge mess the country
is in and we're all gonna wait and see how things turn out. Most of us
voted for Obama, I did and he has my support. I just want to know if
I have his.

16. I hear you.
This transition has been way too long and has caused doubts on many fronts. I worked my *utt off for Obama and after an afternoon here I can doubt my good intentions at times. I watched KO last night and he had some of Obama's speech clips on and I can see why we all wanted this man to represent us. I am going to an Obama house party in Cleveland next weekend. As tired as I am of 'playing the game' I will go and continue to voice my opinion. Please don't shut up and for our sake don't sit down. Peace, Kim

I think that whole stolen election thingy was the beginning of what we at DU called "illegitimate presidency". I remember a whole lot of "not my President" sentiment.

25. Knowing that ,we should have booted his *ss out of the WH!
What did we do? In 2000 I sat in amazement that the court would overrule the people. In 2004 I was out on the street picketing the stolen election in Ohio. As for dissecting * and his Inaugural party I am sure that pretty much every guest was an anti-abortion, anti-gay, anti-liberal professional hater. Where was the outcry? oh god...never mind

23. Has anyone entertained the idea that, by inviting Warren to do this...
...and subjecting him to the backlash that we all knew would occur, he may just be trying to bring about change in Warren himself?

29. YES! Obama just might be that smart! Really.
I mean look at what Warren has done already. Obama has turned over a rock.

A rock that many, MANY people are under. Not just people like Warren, there are lots of people who are uncomfortable with gay issues.

Exposing these issues, brings them to light...and eventually...resolution.

24. Oh yeah...reach out for this...and...GO F__K YOURSELF!
Obama's argument that that they (Obama's admin) are reaching out and being inclusive by having a completely bigoted, non-inclusive, moronic asshole give the honorary benediction at the inauguration is without logic or merit.

They, the religious fanatical asshole bigots have been given front row and center to shove their narrow/single minded shit down our throats for the last F__KING EIGHT YEARS! F__K THEM!

Here's an idea Obama, let them F__KING REACH OUT! If they want to be placed in this most symbolic and honorary position of an all important inauguration that's all about change, shouldn't a basic requirement be that they are in fact, INCLUSIVE?

30. But, look at it from this perspective...
Look at how much press coverage this has received. I would argue that by pushing this into the forefront, Obama is forcing people, Warren included, to address the issue of gay rights and specifically gay marriage. I can't for the life of me see how that's a bad thing.

And it's a complete lie.

This is supposed to be a time of great celebration- all of us worked hard to elect an African American to the White House, and it's time for all of us to honor and congratulate everyone who made it possible, and to celebrate a new era of America.

Instead, Obama seems to have picked the biggest asshole he could think of to start the party off. What a BRILLIANT move!:sarcasm:
