2. K&R. Heard this from Nic Robertson today.
This situation has gone downhill fast. As Zbigniew Brzezinski said on CNN today, this crisis has been going on for 40 years. And they obviously cannot solve this by themselves. They need involvement from the international community, especially the US. Several Arab nations are on board with this, European, too. So where's George Bush* and what has he done to broker peace in this region?! :grr:

3. Don't hold your breath
waiting for the United States to oppose Israel on anything in a meaningful fashion.

4. Rice talking about her hopes for a ceasefire was infuriating.
What the fuck has she done to help this situation?
Seems to me that the US supplies Israel with aid, weapons, planes, etc. at staggering cost to the taxpayer. The US should therefore be able to demand that Israel stand down from the border, allow aid through, and stop the goddamn bombing. Otherwise no more support. Should I hold my breath? Infuriating.
