1. He's pretty defensive about the "federal response."
The response was slow, even with the rescues. They weren't ready. That was intentional. They intentionally mismanaged FEMA.

2. What you could have done differently, soon to be ex-resident
You could have hired competent people instead of hacks like Chertoff and Brown. Competent people would have handled things better.
You could have spent money on shoring up the levees instead of spending it on endless war.
And that's just a starter, Georgie.

3. When he said that about Airforce I....
I thought...WHAT? He defended his lack of response to Katrina by saying that if he had landed there with the jet, it would have made things worse? Good grief! Yeah....true, but what about if he had responded in a way that would have helped....??????? He seems incapable of even the most simple understanding of reality.

20. I was confused there too, however
I think he may have been responding to a question about him actually being IN the city instead of flying over it. Yet, even if he drove into New Orleans, helicopter, whatever, he is correct that he would have needed the ENTIRE New Orleans Police Department for protection because the residents would have had pitchforks for him.

6. He's creating a False Dilemma
As if the only options were
1. do nothing
2. get on a jet and go to the middle of New Orleans himself

How about---not hanging up on Gov. Blanco the night before the storm hit?
Or giving your agencies the green light for rescue missions?
Or, hiring competent people in those positions?
Or, not firing up the propaganda machine to turn public opinion against New Orleans and drive the survivors crazy

10. Federal Rescue helicopters pulled 30,000 survivors off roofs following Katrina?
...Strange, I've not heard that figure before.

What I heard was 30,000 Katrina victims were crammed into the Super-dome without proper food, water, supplies and medical care.

I also recall Bush ordering military to send in 30,000 National Guardsmen to keep NO residents from returning to their homes shortly after Katrina passed.

I also remember that by mid-October more than six weeks after Hurricane Katrina hit HurricaneHousing.org, a project by moveon.org, thanks to the tens of thousands of generous individuals that offered housing, had helped nearly 30,000 hurricane victims start over.

But, I guess Bush's efforts at rescue and assistance were kept pretty low-keyed until this press conference.

Well to be fair, we can't expect Commander AWOL to understand what a PILOT is.

Jackass.

16. Hey you miserable fuck...
There is (or at least was) a video which clearly showed the FEMA people trying to get action out of your sorry ass and you ask no questions...none, zero, nada...make some half assed statement that "we are prepared" and walk off like you could care less. Its out there and it is sickening.

Heckuva Job W...Heckuva job.

21. You're not talking about the same video where the lying-whore-ass-clown was told by experts...
that the the levy would be breached--and he, and the rest of the psychopathic criminals in his syndicate, lied repeatedly after Katrina hit that they had no idea that the levies would not hold...that video?
