. . . . as stupid as I think boooosh is, I won't accuse him on this basis of thinking the Amazon is in Africa.

What he said was that Theodore Roosevelt went on a safari to Africa and he explored the Amazon. Two separate and distinct events.

If, for instance, I told friends I went on a long road trip to visit Chicago and see the Statue of Liberty I am talking about two distinct events.

While the uninformed may infer that booooosh doesn't know where the Amazon is or that I don't know the difference between Chicago and New York, others will understand that it's far more likely that poor syntax leaves the meaning ambiguous.

One need only turn the sentence around. If booooosh said Roosevelt explored the Amazon and went on safari Africa, there is far less ambiguity.


I'm not trying to be charitable to the loathesome piece of dung, I assure you. But I dislike lazy thinking even on the part of those I (generally) agree with.

I mean, there's no need to throw insults around, especially when there's always a high degree of plausibility with Bush that he really would think that.

If Sarah Palin said she went to Chicago and saw the Statue of Liberty, I'd conclude she thought it was in Chicago, not because I'm "uninformed," but because she's just the sort of fucking moron who would think that. Same with Bush.
