Though she is a "blue dog" Democrat, there are a couple of issues where she is conservative, like gun rights, immigration, and fiscal issues, she is progressive on LGBT issues, education, privatization, and other issues.
She pretty much is a product of her district, which is a mix of conservative and progressive constituents.
She is really the most pragmatic pick for Paterson.
