I think there should be more and there should be licensed coffee shops like in Amsterdam. Maybe SF could be a pilot project for decriminalization...?

1. The question is: who's buying all those pipes?
If all these head shops thrive, replacing some with Subways isn't exactly what I'd call good for tourism.

And yes, isn't it about time marijuana was legalized, licensed, and taxed?

We STILL suffer from the original racist marijuana laws. !&$%#@!

2. Don't Mall the Haight...
Edited on Wed Feb-04-09 11:24 PM by AsahinaKimi
Was a button I collected along time ago. I lived in the Haight a few years back, and was so glad to move out. (Mice and Cockroaches in the old houses were incredible!) However, today the Haight though colorful, has more homeless and panhandlers on the street then even the City Hall area. I don't know who is buying all that Parafenila, no one can afford the prices in this city, and rents are even higher now, then when I lived there in a studio apartment above Haight and Lyon.

The only reason I go there now, is to go to Amoeba Music to sell DVDs and CDs just so I can buy some food on occasion. Even they have cut back on the amount of cash they used to offer. The store manager told me that, while they will give you store credit, the amount of cash back for used DVDs and CDs has been cut back to nearly half of what they used to give. They blame the economy, but like I told them, when a person runs out of food, sometimes its the only source of quick cash you can get, and...even if its not much, there are places to buy fresh veggies cheap.
