NOTE: I can't believe I don't completely disagree with O'Reilly here. My opinion on this issue is actually closer to his (Ana nails it in this clip) than it is to Cenk's.

1. I think Cenk's point is more in line that that guy is a crazy blowhard, which I agree with.

2. EVERYONE agrees with that point. I just think Cenk is way too soft on the Octuplets mom.
I think she was incredibly irresponsible, and Cenk kind of glossed over that in my opinion.

4. doenst have kids
I just think Cenk has no **idea** what 14 kids would be to take care of. It *impossible* for one person (or even TWO) to take care of 14 at the same time.

6. I don't have kids (and I don't want them for my own reasons)
So maybe I'm biased, despite my username. ;)

But I have eyes, ears, friends and relatives, and I've seen how even ONE kid can be a handful in the right (wrong?) situation. 6 kids for one parent living with her parents was out of control IMO, so adding another 8 just bothers me on a visceral level.

PS---I wonder if anyone will ask what they think of this.

5. I agree with you that the mother is beyond irresponsible.
But I don't think that the state or government has any real say in this. We are talking about raising children, and it's a free country.

Yep...they only need protection in the womb. Now that they're out....they're on their own.

She can name them Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot, Genghis, Mao, Caligula, Hannibal and Bush.

The saddest thing is a woman who "only wants children".... to the point of neurosis.

I hope she also wants toddlers and teenagers and....

There's a SNL skit: All her kids coming home for Spring Break with dirty laundry.

This woman is very sick and the MD(s) behind this travesty should be prosecuted for malpractice (assuming the IVF was done by someone with a license!). By her own admission, having children makes this woman feel better and lifts HER out of depression (she has a history of depression). This is not about money. This is all about HER needs and mental instability. She is filling up the empty hole inside of HERself with children. They feed HER. Instead of she feeds them. She uses children for HER own gratification. This is one of the worst kinds of emotional trauma that can be perpetrated on a child by a parent - mainly because it is so unconscious. There are many variations and levels of this phenomenon, but I have never seen it played out so graphically and tragically as in this case. By any standard of medical ethics, she never should have been deemed qualified to go through with this procedure. That's why I wonder about the credentials of whoever is behind this.

I am an RN and have worked for many years in the NICU (Newborn Intensive Care Unit). I can tell you that each of those 8 preemies, who are miraculously "doing well," will have problems. Just getting them up to their birth weight, and then to an acceptable weight to be discharged from the hospital, requires an army of nurses and doctors. The term "doing well" is relative. It's very different than saying a healthy full-term baby is "doing well." Yeah, I have to hold my nose and admit that O'Reilly slammed head of the darn nail with a direct hit on this one.

OK, that's my rant. Thanks for listening.

This woman used this as a money-making scheme to get rich.

8. Thank you, Sarah, for hitting the nail on the head. What I find most infuriating about
this whole scenario is that everyone keeps talking about 8 children. When the reality is they are 8 INFANTS who require constant care and medical attention. Even if she did not have the other six kids this would be an unimaginable burden to handle for a stable family with two capable parents.

Regarding No Limit's comment about the state having no say in this. The state has say in any medical procedure that is done to an individual as regards his/her personal safety. If this is not an instance of abuse of medical license I don't know what is. That doctor should be prosecuted for allowing this to happen. But since he'll be the newfound hero to the "pro-life-have-as-many-babies-as-you-can" right I doubt there will be any repercussions.

15. Exactly. I understand that the doctors involved in this are being investigated
For her, it was a money-making venture, one without any concern for the babies she artifically brought. For the doctors, it was an experiment and a way to get in the news. I sure hope they have their licenses revoked.

17. She's not going to get rich. She will be destitute and these kids will be in poverty
Who ever gets big bucks from a "TV deal"? As Cenk says, there's not much to go into a book. And even if there were, the only celebrities who get big jack in "book deals" are politicians, and the "book deals" are simply ways to bribing the politician. She doesn't have any of that working.

Perhaps the first time ever I have agreed completely with O'Reilly.

Fertility clinics are sick places. The world doesn't need to manufacture any more babies. We've get 5 billion too many already.

9. The woman has been on disability since. 1999.
She is supposed to avoid heavy lifting, and large amounts of walking, sitting and bending over.
You cannot be a "good" mother to 14 children given those restrictions.

Want to see TYT on MSNBC? Not any more than I would want to see Joey Buttafucco. I think they are brothers.

I don't care for Ed Schultz, but I'm glad he's out there reaching red staters and borderline red staters (out there huntin', fishin and Nascarin'). I'm not his demographic, but I recognize that his voice is valuable and the fact that he's on the radio instead of another conservative is a step in the right direction.

11. Regulating fertility clinics
While the state may not be able to legislate against stupidity, it can certainly restrict the number of embryos a doctor can implant. In many states it's limited to 2 or 3. This doctor implanted 6.

Moreover, knowing this woman already had 6 kids and is on disability, he could've insisted she undergo psychiatric counseling and a shrink might've deemed the woman not of sound enough mind to have more children.

I can't help wondering if the state could demand payment back for those disability payments, since obviously she's not too disabled to give birth to litters intentionally.

I would also support limits on welfare to mothers who intentionally got artificially inseminated while a single parent and mother of so many other children. If you are already drawing state funds for disability or welfare, you should not be going out and getting inseminated to have more.

18. its her kids
The state does not own rights to them, well in a moral sense.
If the kids are healthy whats the problem?
I thought life was a good thing?
Hell my grand parents had 8 kids, a lot of folks back in the day had lots of kids.
Who is anyone to tell this women to limit the size of her family? Are we living in China?

19. Eight kids is not the same as eight preemie infants.
The clinic that implanted the embryos should have done psychological testing on her before performing the procedure. Isn't it standard procedure before cosmetic surgery, bariatric surgery, gender reassignment surgery for the surgeon to be confident that the patient is going to be able to handle the changes inherent in such a life-changing procedure? This was gross irresponsibility on the part of everyone involved. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the kids didn't grow up with attachment disorder. A daycare provider is only allowed FOUR infants. There are only so many hours in a day and only so much one person can do, and this woman is less than 100% physically and emotionally by her own report and mentally as evidenced by her interview.

God/dess, I cannot believe I am in agreement with Billo about this. Oi.

26. Yep, they're all hers and under the circumstances she needs to support
them all by herself, the only help she should get is from her crazy Iraqi-bound Daddy.

Sorry the kids have to lead lives of desperation and want but hey, it was her right to have 14 frigging kids, it's her DUTY to support 'em. Along. Not on the taxpayer's back.

Only under those conditions will I ever agree that she has 'rights' in this situation.

24. O'Reilly is right from time to time, unlike, say, Hannity.
I very rarely agree with Hannity on anything, but every now and then, especially on non-political stories like this one, O'Reilly gets it right. Of course, he is still irritating and strident, even when he's right on the issue.

They are not a commodity, they are people. I suppose if one had been born with two heads, she would be selling his/her pictures to "National Enquirer"?

There may be no crime against this, but there should be. You know who is going to support these kids. Me and you, because of this woman's fucked up need to not be alone.
There are still people out there who believe we act in isolation. I didn't think Cenk was one of them.

The woman is nuts. I pity those children.

I heard so much about this story....but never heard that she wasn't even married. How the hell is she going to raise/pay for all those kids? How many is that.....14-16 kids??
