Marc Thiessen, Bush’s former chief speechwriter, agreed. Not only would the investigations be hypocritcal, he said, but worse, they would be “terribly dangerous” because they would expose the “facts” of the U.S.’s interrogation techniques to Osama bin Laden:

THIESSEN: The facts that they want to get out are the techniques we use to interrogate terrorists. The techniques that we used to intercept e-mails and communications and telephone calls. And when you get those facts out, it’s not just going out to the American people and to the viewers on television. It’s going out to Osama bin Laden. It’s going out to the terrorists who can use those information to get around our intelligence and plan the next attack.

So it’s very deadly — this is very deadly serious stuff. … And it’s terribly dangerous.

4. This Argument Being Used by Bushies is INSANE
The fact is that President Obama has ordered that the Pentagon observe and obey the rules on interrogations as listed in the Army Manual. Therefore, the acts being investigated are acts that are PROHIBITED and should not be used. It is simply insane to assert that acts which are illegal to perform can be "overcome" by terrorists simply by revealing them. If we are not supposed to use them, how can they be "overcome"?

It is simply stunning that in America in 2009 that the level of disconnect is so great that Bush spokepeople can get on shows in the mainstream media and spout insane crap like this and not be laughed out of the studio.

5. All journalists are terrorist, so they were spied on too! All prisoners are terrorist too, or
Bush would not have rounded them up, just like he would not have spied on all journalists if they weren't all terrorist.

"I used to be a commie pinko radical, now I'm just an everyday terrorist." American journalism.

6. He and many other Bush/Cheney surrogates will have a permanent platform there always.

Even out of power, they will continue to try to manipulate every avenue they can find to try to prevent judgment day from getting here any day soon.

7. So sex and torture are the same
I see. The "terrorist" might learn to hold their breath longer. What a crock of shit. The only danger to exposing Bush/Cheney is to Bush/Cheney.

8. Use what to "plan an attack" exposing illegal sick torturers-what lying pile of republican horseshit
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 03:44 PM by GreenTea
All the republicans lies and illegal activity is always about hiding behind Osama Bin Laden, O'Reilly said holding up a photo after 9/11 "You're looking at a dead man" yeah right.

And now they are still hiding behind, using their buddy, bin Laden to avoid facing up to their crimes....these fucking Bush assholes coming out of the woodwork to lie & distort facts and making up bullshit to protect their fellow republican criminals!

The republicans need to be prosecuted for their crimes, and a lesson to the next fascist republican regime that will be held accountable.

To do nothing is condoning their crimes, to do nothing is coward, to do nothing is ILLEGAL!

9. For the record, Mr. Thiessen . . .
Edited on Fri Feb-13-09 03:49 PM by Jack Rabbit
. . . a torturer is not a hero. He is a war criminal.

And Mr. O'Reiily, there you go again. Equating a conspiracy to undermine and violate the Geneva Conventions with a tacky tryst between consenting adults. When will you get real?

10. Maybe if you make them sound like war heros
that we will be reluctant to prosecute them. I wonder if these guys are starting to get nervous. If I am not mistaken, the latest polls seem to have gone from 25 to 40% in favor of investigating these criminals. I really do hope they investigate, prosecute and incarcerate.

11. Let's see....
....you were worried about "them coming after you" so you think Bush shoulda put in immunity. That means, before you knew Dems were gonna win any elections, you were worried about being investigated and possibly procecuted....for what? what was that? doing what?...ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES? You just admitted they were illegal and you all knew it.

....Who cares HOW you obtain info? We just want it done legally for 2 simple reasons. 1) our PRIVACY, and 2) illegally obtained info is USELESS!

....we KNOW for a FACT that no plots of any seriousness have ever been thwarted by info gotten from torture. None, zip, zero, nada, nicht, nyet. So that little pat on the back is a LIE...one everyone, but those in the now defunct O'Reilly/ Bush bubble, knows about already. I can't believe you trotted that lame lie out!

A BUSH SPEECH WRITER? for BUSH? Someone WROTE those things? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Of all of Bush's speeches for 8 years....only 17 words will ever be remembered.

12. OReilly was sure in a hurry to shut Thiessen up as he
continued on to advocate the use of torture. The argument just doesn't make sense; I'm sure bin laden's followers are well aware of torture tactics used by US interrogators.
