1. You're asking if a Republican is lying?
Is the Pope German? Does a bear shit in the woods? Is water wet?

2. I find it hard to believe that ZERO employees want him to support the bill
How many people can be employed by the company? I'm guessing that it's at least in the hundreds.

Moreover, they should all be ecstatic about this bill passing. Certainly a lot of tractors and assorted heavy machinery will be used in all of these infrastructure projects. Their job security could be on the line here.

5. 1100? They're laying off 22,000.
<http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2009/02/62784691/1>

ABC News' Political Punch blog -- Caterpillar CEO contradicts Obama: In East Peoria, Ill., yesterday, President Obama visited a Caterpillar equipment plant and said again that he'd been told by CEO Jim Owens "that if Congress passes our (stimulus) plan, this company will be able to rehire some of the folks who were just laid off." After Obama left, Owens "said the exact opposite. Asked if the stimulus package would be able to stop the 22,000 layoffs or not, Owens said, 'I think realistically no. The truth is we're going to have more layoffs before we start hiring again. It is going to take some time before that stimulus bill' means re-hiring"

8. Didn't take this prick long...
...to fall right into line with the Repug 'We Want Obama To Fail At All Costs' Party. Let me see if I understand it...a significant portion of the stimulus bill is headed for the states and a significant portion of the state piece is destined for heavy construction - particularly roads. So this guy's saying that employees at Caterpiller doesn't want that extra money being spent in their category? What's the matter with these folks, are they that stupid? Frankly, if I were them I'd be more concerned that other US manufacturers of heavy equipment just might take this opportunity to let their state DOTs know that Caterpiller doesn't want their money, they'll just sit up there in Peoria and throw rocks at every effort proposed to provide some relief to the States - hell, is there a single Governor that's against this thing...unless, of course, it's becaise they would like more?

And don't get me started on the Caterpiller CEO. He's just doing what every 'Lower Labor Costs' Republican CEO does, look for excuses to reduce jobs, and the resultant costs, just so they can brag to the Board that they met their 'bonus goals'. Then when the business starts to come back they'll crank up their 'non-US' manufacturing arms to produce more stuff. The reality is that the business model that has evolved over the past 20 years says 'to hell with jobs, we want more return on equity to the shareholders'. Didn't these people ever watch 'Executive Suite' when they were growing up?

11. Great point!
This is what companies like CVS and Home Depot do all time, scare the employees into supporting Republicans.
