I'm on record as saying that I DO think the cartoon was obviously ignorant and racist.
I'm also on record as having disagreed with Cenk many times. In fact when I do, I email him directly and or I post something at the home base of TYT.com. I did this recently regarding top marginal tax rates and the Octuplet Mom (two issues, one thread by me). Actually, I also posted a video here at DU about O'Reilly discussing the Octuplets and wrote that I agreed with O'Reilly more than Cenk (broken clocks and blind squirrels, etc.).
But I don't flip out and go nuts when Cenk says something I (strongly) disagree with. Why? Because I keep it in the context of the person saying it.
If Rush says it, you know he's a racist POS. If Cenk says it (and Rush would never make a nuanced argument about how we need to delicately approach discussions of race to get better results), I realize it's the same guy that http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rPCJNG7iPeM|cried along with Jesse Jackson>.
And the guy that .
Not to mention the guy that had Baratunde Thurston on the show to discuss .
And the list goes on and on. That doesn’t change the fact that I disagree with Cenk here, but hopefully you’ll keep this in context and realize that his larger point is simply that he thinks there are better ways to fight racism than to specifically go after the cartoon. And that’s something we can have a reasonable disagreement about.
