Keith reports on the protests outside of the NY Post over the cartoon it ran with the monkey being shot and the latest crazy statements to come from Alan Keyes. Jonathan Alter weighs in.

Which is all fine and well. And I supposed Keyes does make Coulter look slightly less wacky because she's do much smoother, while he's a burning-brand-up-the-butt zealot. Coulter is a geek (as in the guy in old-timey side shows who bites the heads off chickens), but that just makes her another flavor of entertainer. Keyes is a thorough fanatic.

In the case of Fred Phelps, no way. Phelps and his troupe of inbred no-opposable-thumb troglodytes are not even in the same Zip Code as sane. They are sick fucks beyond most people's imaginations. Communities who know they're going to be visited by Phelps and Co. need to save up buckets of human and animal waste for judicious application when they appear.

Keyes's ego just won't let him accept that the reason he loses everything he runs for is nobody wants him for anything...that he is just a clown, bitter and hateful, and so can't be trusted to represent "people".
