4. The only thing I find interesting is Tyra's blonde straight hair...

The young woman on the show obviously has identity issues and sounds like she was raised in a place or family that had a bad affect on her. I hope as she gets older, she can love all the parts of herself.

However, I think Tyra came off as judgemental and snide. This was particularly troubling for me considering that her hair is an obvious example of the sort of struggle of self-love that the younger woman was going through.

Perhaps, it's just a fashion thing and Tyra's a beautiful woman. She could wear a paper bag over her head and a garbage bag for a wedding dress and she'd still be beautiful. But to me, it's kind of shortsighted to castigate the young woman when Tyra has adopted many of the "anglo" standards of beauty for herself.

Don't get me wrong. The young woman in the video has issues and that she loathes the African heritage in herself is the product of racism and euro-centrism. It's just that Tyra is affected by it too in my opinion, obviously to a lesser degree. I just take Tyra's blonde hair as a contridiction to what she was trying to "teach" to her guest.

I'd respect Tyra more if she realized the sort of crisis the guest was going through, rather than trying to single her out as a freak.

My guess is the guest was raised in a white family in a small town and was force fed racist ideas from a young age. I look at her as a victim.

No matter what, I find the Rebel Flag offensive as it's not only a symbol of racism to me, it's a symbol of sedition. If there's one flag I'd burn, that would be the one.
