When President Barack Obama ordered 17,000 more U.S. troops into Afghanistan last week, reactions I saw on both the left and the right left me unimpressed and wanting greater historical perspective as I show with the clips in this video.

The first clip comes from Michele Malkin's appearance on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" on February 19, 2009.

The second clip comes from Rep. Maxine Waters' appearance on HBO's "Real Time with Bill Maher" on February 20, 2009.

The third clip come from the Fox News broadcast of the first debate between Barack Obama and John McCain on September 26, 2008

The last clip (audio) comes from the Terry Gross's interview with Sarah Chayes on NPR's Fresh Air broadcast on February 4, 2009 that you can find at: http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=100189461

And, finally, as always, you can find DOZENS and DOZENS more examples of Fox News bias on my Fox News bias playlist on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=A3BD2524FE99BD4D

1. Maher's comment about "maybe they're not ready for freedom"
is ludicrous.

What they don't want is live under the rule of a occupying force. I mean, is it really that difficult to understand?

3. I picture Malkin
working as a mop girl cleaning out booths in a Juarez peep show or truck stop lap dancing.

4. Typical Malkin non-sense
This boils down to a case of pandering to core conservatives. "I'm an attractive Asian woman! Buy my books!"

Like Coulter, with less need for a ham sandwich.

outlast everyone, like they did the Brits and the Soviets, and go back to cheerfully killing one another again when the foreigners are gone.

Like they've always done.

9. My answer to his question at the end: "what, if anything, can the Obama Administration do to
clean up the mess in Afghanistan left by the failed foreign policy of George W Bush?"

Is that we need to secure the country so that that reconstruction can finally take place. If this means sending in many more troops, so be it. This long outstanding job needs to be finished properly.
