1. CNN story : Will these pictures be used for political purposes?
The lives of these men and women were used for political purposes and for the purpose of financial gain by criminal politicians. It's no wonder they don't want anybody to see these images.

2. One Big Mistake for BushCo.
The decision to uphold the ban on photographing the coffins of returning war dead was one of the poorest decisions of the BushCo. White House. I'm sure the original idea was that Americans needed to be insulated from the horrible truth, or that BushCo. was simply ashamed that thousands of promising young Americans were going to Iraq and coming home dead. It certainly seemed like BushCo. was not interested in giving Americans the option to mourn in their own ways the brave souls who gave their lives so we could continue shopping. BushCo. thought that the images would be demoralizing, but never considered the fallout from denying these images from the American People. Sure, people kept on shopping, just as BushCo. wanted them to. But some of us asked, what are they trying to hide?

I think that if the pictures had been allowed to come out, it might have galvanized our nation's resolve to end the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts as quickly and efficiently as possible, and ultimately it would have allowed more Americans to feel like they were sharing the burden. Instead, soldiers' remains were turned into pawns of cloak-and-dagger politics, the ultimate insult to their service and sacrifice.
