Back in the day, really, when people would talk about our military in a poor way, somebody would shoot ‘em. And there’d be nothing said about that, because they knew it was wrong. You don’t talk about our troops. You support our troops. Especially when our congressmen and senators sit there and say bad things in an ongoing conflict.

He's a dimwit, but he recognizes that this weird misalignment of the planets is his chance to jump from obscurity to celebrity, and he's taking it. Biting the heads off chickens doesn't work anymore (except maybe for Anne Coulter), so pretending to be populist pundit is the next best thing. It wouldn't work except that the Republican party is so totally bankrupt of both integrity and ideas that this ignorant putz can weakly imitate having something meaningful to say -- and they're so desperate they believe it.

It comes at a great cost though. Any reasonable person can see what a pathetic noentity this guy is and that for the Republicans to be touting him this way is further confirmation of their hypocrisy and uselessness.
