27. Well, the real problem ... is that Conservatism is an ideology ...
... that exists only through good marketing, and the ability to feed off the carcass of an infrastructure built on liberal policies.

Facts are to Conservatism what sunlight is to vampires.

22. If you are a Conservative Libertarian
It means you are a Rethug who just wants to buy illegal drugs without being arrested. They move in every direction from there.

Anyway back to topic - this is what they should do, but real "free market" Conservatives know that there is no money in broadcasting crap like that. That is why there is only one Fox News. There is room only for one and Murdoch has taken it.

The others just want to sell them plastic Jesus models so that they can go and vote for dumb referenda on gay marriage, while at the same time perhaps voting for the Rethug candidate.

8. I actually agree with Carlson here. Right wing "information" sources
are notoriously inaccurate. Only problem, if they were correct in the things they reported, their ideology would collapse. Thus the problem.

10. The New York Times pisses both sides of the political spectrum off.
So, chances are, they are doing their job reasonably well. By definition, news should not be colored with opinion. Just the reporting of the facts. Because the facts make for reality based information, that's probably a bigger problem for those people who'd prefer that news get reported in ways that support their political bias. We might complain about individual reporters at the Times, but hardly any of us think that we'd be more informed if the NYT just disappeared.

15. I don't buy it
It's an old argument... if both sides think you're doing a bad job, you're probably doing a good job. But maybe sometimes you're just really doing a bad job. I don't condemn the NY Times entirely, and I still read it often. But I can't excuse as "acceptably in the middle" the fact that they reported all Bush administration claims leading up to the Iraq war without ever questioning them (unlike the McClatchy papers) and in fact actually further supported t hose claims with the whole Judith Miller fiasco. When it came to Iraq, they were not "too left for the right and too right for the left," -- they were just wrong.

16. They Boo'ed him because Accurate reporting would destroy their base
After a while, their base would be claiming that the sky was yellow and the sun was blue, they would also wash themselves with dirt, and dry themselves with water.

Truly, if their were any level of accuracy, then the republican base would be tormented by conflicting thoughts, which would cause their head to explode, since all thoughts must be compartmentalised and separate. Bringing two thoughts together is dangerous for the Psychopath, because they might actually realize that other peoples suffering is actually a bad thing, and not something to take pleasure in.

If the Republican base actually used more than 5% of their brain, they would realized the depth of the lie of the American Dream, and that they are the only ones that can control their own destiny.

Instead, they blame others for their own failings, and promote others towards hate, authoritarinism and greed.

Religion plays a big role in keeping the Authoritarians in favor, because the scripture consistently promotes "Our Father" and a concept that can never do wrong, and they imprint this dogma onto Republican leadership, which are just more sheep that had their will broken long ago, and blindly follow the patriarch.

24. He needs to learn to fit in.
With contemporary conservatives, that means flannel shirt and NASCAR cap; talk like a goober; be bitter and surly all the time; no irony or subtlety or big words or you're a RINO. And if your IQ's in triple digits, listen to Glenn Beck so's you can be dumber and more "down-home."

Tommy would work. Tucker, what the hell kind of elitist snob name is that? Sounds like the name of some g.d. snooty liberal who eats stinky cheese and likes ballet. Don't sound downhome nohow, nossir.

That's the cultural level we're dealing with here!

There are some that if it is said about your side it has to be good, if it is said about other side it has to be bad. If anyone says something positive about other side, they have to be booed or argued with.

This is one of the trappings of ideology, and ironically enough, it was part of the gig Tucker Carlson did on the show Crossfire. The truth was not the point, it was arguing for your side no matter what, with lots of spin.

So Tucker gets up there and trying to help his cause, makes a statement he knows is true, because he knows all the BS the conservative wing nuts are floating is not working, and maybe because he is tired of that approach.

What happens, the well trained conservatives, have to attack the liberal paper, they can't accept anything could be good about it, they literally do not think, they react with the dog whistle trained method. If red meat cheer, if says something not red meat, boo.

However, I think we all understand Tucker's frustration, we all have had to talk to a wingnut before, sometimes its tough to talk to someone that is just ideological.
