1. so, how would YOU select what food to provide in school and from whom?
will you get milk from...non dairy organizations?
meat from non-meat producing organizations?
the ever popular "chicken parts" from non food producing companies?
If one is going to buy food for schools, one has to buy it from food producers.

IMO the best way to determine what is ordered and sold is at the district level.

and BTW I'd be willing to bet that more than half of all food put in the hands of students goes into the trash uneaten.

2. This is disturbing.
Today's school lunch program looks like the food court at the mall. Pizza, nachos & pop qualify as a nutritional lunch?

The movie "Super Size Me" has a good segment on school lunch programs. One school district cut out the crap & went back to basic foods. Guess what? The teachers reported better attention & performance during class.

One last thing. When I was a kid, we had a few 'fat' kids in our class. But none of them were fat like the kids in this video! And there weren't many, either. When I'm out & about,I am surprised at the number of fat kids I see. Don't their parents see this as a health issue?

Thanks again for posting.
