Speaks with Mark Perry of the Conflicts Forum about how peace in Iraq was specifically avoided by neocons.

1. Peace for the neocons would be bad for business.

Which consists entirely of war, torture and death. Perpetual war with no goal was their intention to begin with.

2. There is a question about Mark Perry's view of Wolfowitz view of his chain of command.
Rachel asks, "Wolfowitz worked for Rumsfeld right?"

Mark says, "there seems to be no doubt about that" <- HE SMIRKS OR SMILES.

That thought is funny to him.

My opinion, Mark Perry believes, Wolfowitz was working for someone else.

Although he may have been saying Rumsfeld worked for Wolfowitz, it is possible that Wolfowitz had someone else he was beholdant to.

My claim is he actually told the truth in an attempt to maintain a lie. The persumption of who Wolfowitz works for. His statement is not who Wolfowitz works for, but a statement about weather anyone doubts the story of who he works for.

3. We knew this already at DU.
I know that Petraeus isn't very popular here...but in an interview with Jon Stewart he revealed that he paid off the Sunni tribes (in '07) without telling the White House. It seems obvious now why he would do this on his own initiative without consulting them.

4. The "de-Baathification" process
including the complete disbanding of the Iraqi army, civil service and police force is probably what caused the insurgency.

8. Which is as simplistic and useless as saying Baathists are Nazis.

12. Just my immediate feelings on hearing neocons do indeed like the wars. You
can read about it but when you see that fact in action it is pretty scary.

6. Rachel, Rachel;
I see all this complaining and fault blaming against rummy as an end run for bush. Am I wrong? Probably, but Rachel does not list any other possibilities than blaming rummy for everything short of the fall of Rome.

7. I think it depends on what role one believes that Bush was playing in his own administration.
The buck stops in the Oval Office, of course, but many believe that Bush was little more than a figurehead being manipulated by Cheney, Rumsfeld, et al, and that they were running the show. From that perspective, significant blame belongs with the people running things.

Bush certainly deserves a heaping share of blame, but it's obvious that many others were pulling some seriously screwed up stuff, with or without his knowledge.

9. So, basically, Wolfowitz was one war behind.
And unwilling to compromise his high principles of right and wrong. My, that turned out well.

10. I'm glad he mentioned Condoleezza...
...as one of those who pushed against the initiative. She seems to have escaped much scrutiny since Bush left office.

11. so this was driven
by ideologues who were unhappy the way the Gulf War ended? There is now a strong tie between Iraq and Iran. There is a surge in violence again. Saudis support the sunnis and the area is surrounded by sunni nations. If Iran is hit what will Iraq do?
I know it was about the oil for Cheney, and Bush well he thought God wanted him to be president. But what was the real plan? Were they not all on the same page even?
