1. Well said!
And it's great to know that many countries, allies and those concerned about the US, are all in agreement. More proof there IS an international community.

3. World must stand up to the USA. STOP Torture. STOP wars of aggression!
Part of the world standing up to a criminal empire is developing defensive capabilities.

5. War sux
North Korea is hardly a weak nation when it comes to war.The pentagons own estimates have us losing somewhere between 100k and a half soldiers in a ground war with them. They are dug in and armed to the teeth and subsequently have an insane leader.

6. That was then..
But this implies that the US is still using the same techniques and technology of the past...i doubt they would make the same mistakes they did in the past when concerning the ground game. Sure thewy would lose plenty of solidiers but i doubt it would be as reckless as before....it was a learning experience and now they know

7. War sux
No, these are current estimates. North Korea has spent so much money over the years on the war machine and war technolgy that as you probably know, their economy is in shambles. Serving in the military is an only option for most adult males. The terrain of the country coming in from the sea is supposedly very hilly and they have developed a tank that is the envy of many that can go up or down steep grade. We would win in a war against them ( I guess)but not without major casualties. Besides if I have learned one thing about war it is not about winning , but continuing.War is a racket!

8. Wrong
It is the Chinese who will fight us in N.Korea. The N. Korean armed forces are a joke. The Chinese beat us before and they will beat us again if we are foolish enough to fight them in Asia.

9. Whatever
Hey man just go look up their arsenal. That's all I did. You might also want to look for an interview with the commanding General in Seoul and see what his opinion on a war with North Korea would look like. Calling North Korea's
armed forces a joke is an uninformed opinion.

10. A fighting force of potentially just under 6 million
I just looked it up too, to find out how big their army is...

--- -- ---

North Korea is the most militarised country in the world today(3), having the fourth-largest standing army in the world, at an estimated 1.1 million armed personnel, with about 20% of men ages 17–54 in the regular armed forces.(4) It also has the Worker-Peasant Red Guard, a reserve force comprising 3.5m+ (IISS), 3.8m (USMC) or 4.7m (State Department) militia. It operates an enormous network of military facilities scattered around the country, a large weapons production basis, and an extremely dense air defence system.

11. I lived in Korea
Edited on Tue May-26-09 08:25 AM by soryang
..for years. The North Korean Army is a joke. The soldiers are starving. I've read and listened to interviews with their generals and defectors. I've seen these interviews on Korean television and in their magazines. Their equipment is antiquated and obsolete. They have no food, no fuel, no trucks and no modern armor. As a practical matter they have no effective air force or navy. The Army is a method of political control and primarily a forced labor corvee. I can read and write Korean and have traveled widely in Korea. I can safely say that everything you think you know about Korea is US propaganda.

The only thing they have now is the bomb. And they need it, because we are a rogue nation invading and occupying nations in Asia. Our air force killed millions of Koreans indisciminately during the Korean conflict. That is the whole basis for North Korean paranoia.

I was a military officer for 15 years and one of my primary qualifications was as a threat analyst. In essence, the token forces we have in Korea are all we need.
