Conservatives Blast Obama’s Hispanic SCOTUS Nominee As ‘Not The Smartest’ And An ‘Intellectual Lightweight’
http://thinkprogress.org/2009/05/26/sotomayor-lightweight/

Similarly, over at the National Review, Ramesh Ponnuru calls Sotomayor “Obama’s Harriet Miers.” This morning on Fox News, Karl Rove questioned whether she was smart enough to be on the Supreme Court. “I’m not really certain how intellectually strong she would be, she has not been very strong on the second circuit,” he said. Citing Rosen, Weekly Standard executive editor Fred Barnes said that Sotomayor was “not the smartest.” Watch a compilation:

These attacks started even before Sotomayor was named. The National Review’s Mark Hemingway earlier said that Sotomayor was “dumb and obnoxious.”

The majority of complaints actually come from liberals. They wanted Obama to pick someone who they thought was the most intellectually superior to the current Conservatives of the Supreme Court. Though they list examples such as her debating skills and accusations of her sidestepping core arguments of cases, obviously these charges of intellectual inferiority are subjective. The charges that she is this hated woman by her colleagues are even more tenuous. Her own clerks have nothing but high regards for her and many of the complaints being tossed around by the media right now are from anonymous clerks of other judges or past prosecutors. Court isn't supposed to be a popularity contest anyway.

And finally, Rove. All I have to say is :wtf: Seriously man? You worked with George Dumbya Bush and suddenly you have the right to say whose an intellectual heavyweight!?

13. I'm definetly not arguing against her.

I just wanted to post and explain the article because pundits often misquote them or alter their intent. I should also mention that Jeff Rosen himself is not a critic of Sotomayor. He was just studying potential strengths and weaknesses of the nominees. He even had to write a follow up article explaining this to readers.

15. The nx time should be a whole lot easier to pick(If I dare say so) a LIB judge
Are they angry they can't stop it...shit yeah....but it was themselves that lost the confidence of the Nation by acting/voting against the best interest of the Masses...ignoring conventional wisdom when it comes to National Leadership...IE..the Bush Administration

THE Pubs have no one to blame but themselves....

and instead of making it better for their troops 1 1/2 years from now...they are worsening the situation...shitting in the Pub Well if I may.....

evidence: Young Republicans at Colleges at all time low....its that BAD....

16. Rove a College drop out talking smack about a person who was ...
... # 1 in her class @ Princeton and editor of the Yale law review.

BTW her cases stand up to appeal to the SCOTUS better than any other Fed. Judge.
