Single Payor Now.
I have been advocating this since my son became ill in 1991 and had to fight my insurance company for over 10 years, resulting in the lose of my home, marriage, incurring huge debt and almost the loss of my son.
Sadly my story is not unique but the norm when it comes to Insurance Companies withholding or reversing payment for covered medical care.

this program - Bernie Sanders, our Vermont Senator, Donna Smith, the California Nurses Association, and Healthcare Providers from across the country united to fight for sane health care policy for ALL Americans.

I'm very sorry to hear that you have gone through such a horrible experience. We're all one illness, one misstep away from this same fate.

2. I was lucky I had a very supportive family.

I met many families over the years during my son's many stays in Children's Los Angeles who did not have support and lost everything some even lost their loved ones. All had great insurance until they became ill and had to use it.
The worst was when the Insurance Company would do a review and take back monies already paid leaving you with even more debt.
I spent more time writing letters to my Insurance Company regarding these reviews or denial of services than I care to remember. I also wrote letters to every member of Congress, Senate and two presidents regarding my experience with both PPO's and HMO's and the need for a single payor system. I can count the response I got on one hand. I still have those responses and the one from my Senator still makes me shake my head in disgust he thanked me for my concern on gun control.
