18. It's called the blanding down of education and its going on in full force

where I live. Many parents don't want their kids exposed to anything and they try and block it from everyone's vision. They quietly get educational materials restricted and cancelled in the school class rooms and those of us who want our kids educated don't even know that these materials have been eliminated becasue of complaints. They get their "members" working in key positions to quietly direct education and what is allowed. They threaten to home school their kids if the school allows any of this stuff. While those of us who are reasonable and donate money to support all students, coach all students encourage all students lose out because we are not threatening to withhold money and we're not unified (in a church group). In our school a school nurse got in trouble for handing out literature about birth control to a teenager they knew was sexually active. We had 20 pregnant teens in our high school this year and we have around 600 students in our school. Somehow the liberals need to unify and get a plan or their going to be teaching intelligent design instead of biology!

The rule for becoming president is that you be a natural born citizen. As I understand it, the problem is this: his dad was not a American, therefore he might not have been an American citizen at birth if born on some other soil than that of the U.S. If one of parent is foreign then the US citizen parent has to meet requisite time of residence in the actual U.S. He would be an automatic U.S. citizen if both parents had been U.S. citizens. But then there is that sticky issue of "natural born citizen" as a special requirement for President as compared to U.S. citizenship. That "natural born" part usually implies you have to actually be born on U.S. soil, even if it's an embassy or, like McCain, a military base.

If he's born on U.S. soil--which he was!--than it's a moot point. If he wasn't, then it becomes an issue.

You said that the issue was about adoption. You didn't specify adoption of a foreign child. You just said it's about adoption, and it's not. It's about birth on U.S. soil. As for your children being "natural born" because you're a U.S. Citizen...not necessarily so.

This is in regards to U.S. citizenship. But we are talking about a specific requirement for the president which is "natural born" citizenship. Which seems to mean being born on U.S. soil. Period. Never mind if your parents were U.S. citizens. Well, I don't. But it's not my call. McCain who was born in a Panama hospital, to Americans in the armed forces, had to get that question answered by the courts before he could run for president. The rule may be stupid and silly, but there is it. It stands and it is an impediment to anyone who wasn't born on U.S. soil who wants to run for president. If they run, this issue will come up and they may be disqualified for, yes, being born in a Bavarian hospital. Never mind if their parents are U.S. Citizens who can trace their bloodlines back to the founding fathers. The person born to U.S. citizens is a U.S. citizen and can run for almost any U.S. office, but if they aren't a "natural born" citizen then they may be disqualified from running for president.

If he didn't qualify, Fox News would have been all over the airwaves with their proof. The proof would be in the records of the passport office and the American embassies in the world. Travel, especially for women in late pregnancy, was not as common in 1961 as it is now. Even now, it is highly unlikely that a woman in the last months of pregnancy will travel very far from home without an extremely good reason. Her family would know had she left the country in August of that year. Barack Obama is a natural born citizen. There is no question. So are my children.

Obama, on the other hand, was born in Hawaii, so there's no question that he's a natural born citizen. If he were born in Kenya, however, he may well have been disqualified. Like I said, it's a stupid rule, but there is it and there it stands. Your kids may not be "natural born" citizens. Just citizens. Which makes no difference at all UNLESS they want to run for president.

You can insist that they're natural born citizens all you like. But we'll never know for sure if they qualify as that, for the office of president/vice president and ONLY for the office of president/vice president until and unless they run for president and someone challenges them on that rule and it goes to court and gets ruled on.

So insist away. I can't argue what you want to believe, but trust me on this, if they were born in a foreign country and NOT at an embassy or military base, then if one of your kids ran for president, they'd be in court over this, unable to run for the office till the court ruled that they were "natural born" citizens.
