2. It's time to MARCH IN THE STREETS PEOPLE!!
We should be IN THE STREETS!! We are no better. We sit and type our bullshit to a war monger and his mad dogs, and we are not seen outside our homes. We should be marching in the streets EVERY DAY!! We should be AT LEAST in the streets on the weekends in whatever numbers we can make....five, a hundred, a thousand...
I am no better. I sit here, hurting inside, wanting to act, but not knowing how to get started. We NEED TO BE HEARD and SEEN. Enough is enough!!!!!

3. Most Americans are just so damn comfortable they will not take to the streets.
Sadly, it will take something drastic to get the asses off the couch, away from the mind-numbing TV shows, and outside to defend the very freedoms that allow them this comfort. They won't fight for it until they have started to really lose most of it....

12. I have been in the streets
once with well over 350,000 but it does no good today because the MSM refuse to acknowledge it.
If 100 Reich wing idiots hit the streets waving flags marching FOR the "occupation" the MSM is all over it.
Get 1 Million in the streets marching against the occupation, or 9/11 truth, Impeachment, etc. and you hear nothing of it.

What we need to do is march by the 10s of Millions up to Faux Noise and burn them to the ground, then point to the rest of them and say you are next unless you start telling the damn truth.
I'd like to see them ignore that.

17. You are right, however,
There are a lot of DU'ers that do more that just type, but it sometimes looks like it does little good. (I think it does).

In Houston area we have this: http://www.progressiveactionalliance.org/ They list a lots of events in our area and I just found them this weekend...due to the exact same feelings that you have. (I have even posted very similar postings...;-)

Even though I have very little free time...I need to start doing something. For my sanity.

With your passion you could probably be a leader!!!

Peace.

6. Ralph Nader is to blame!
Edited on Sat Jun-02-07 11:39 PM by 19jet54
With all the trickery by the GOP & caging by Rove, Ralph Nader is the one who prevented Al Gore from being President by splitting the Democratic vote AND BUSH IS THE RESULT - The giant war machine!

March, write congress, write news, blog and be politically active under the law - Just do not split the Democratic vote and LET the other team win again! Cindy Sheehan & company leaving the Democratic Party is playing right into GOP hands - IMHO. If you truely want to stop the WAR, unity is our best chance?

Æsop. (Sixth century B.C.) Fables.
The Harvard Classics. 1909–14.
The Four Oxen and the Lion

A LION used to prowl about a field in which Four Oxen used to dwell. Many a time he tried to attack them; but whenever he came near they turned their tails to one another, so that whichever way he approached them he was met by the horns of one of them. At last, however, they fell a-quarrelling among themselves, and each went off to pasture alone in a separate corner of the field. Then the Lion attacked them one by one and soon made an end of all four.

7. Blame election fraud, not Nader.
If people want to vote for Nader, let 'em. Gore won regardless of Nader.

9. But is Gore actually President?
Edited on Sun Jun-03-07 01:40 AM by 19jet54
You are totally missing the point - Florida would not have even mattered. The only independent & new political candidate to ever win was Abraham Lincoln; the next closest & only one since 1900 to even get any electoral votes was the Bull Moose Party with Teddy Roosevelt, but he didn't win. Take your pick, Perot, Nader, Buchanan only took votes away from their candidates party. Let the GOP fragment, but if you REALLY want to stop the war, stay true to the Democratic Party and WIN!

Get pissed off - Leave & THEY win? The MORON lets emotion decide rather than logic and careful planning?

10. We already voted Democratic...
And they voted to keep us in this war. You're dead wrong.

11. We can't just snuff out third parties
As we may need them when our party fails. Gore won Florida, with or without Nader. Gore would have still lost had he received all of Nader's votes. The election was rigged. Nader had nothing to do with it. The more parties the better, I say.

13. we need to support 3rd & 4th parties
because the current 1 party system with 2 wings is NOT working.

15. I do not disagree
but the 3,4 & 5th parties need to be GOP splinters, not Democratic splinter groups :)

16. No they need to NOT be affiliated at all with either wing of
the Rethuglocrats we have today. We need REAL parties that are FOR the people.

Proves I'm Right - and the Democrats "barely" were put in the majority, unable to overide any veto - not all Democrats voted war - get real

18. You don't need to over-ride the veto...
to end the war. STOP FUNDING THE WAR and the troops will come home. Look at all the Dems who voted to continue this war... it wouldn't have been possible to remain in Iraq without their vote!

8. At the very least: Out of Iraq NOW!
Asking for peace from the war mongers in office and the war fiends among the public is futile, as depressing as that may seem.
