Is Obama literally playing chess?

This video highlights some key quotes from the 1997 book The Grand Chessboard, which I think provides deeper insight into Obama's hawkish foreign policy. The author of this book served as national security advisor to Jimmy Carter, in addition to being on the foreign intelligence advisory boards of the Reagan and Bush I administrations. Brzezinski later went on to endorse B. Obama's candidacy for president, in August 2007. One month later in a speech on the Iraq war, Senator Obama introduced Brzezinski as "one of our most outstanding thinkers." So there's no doubt in my mind that Obama is taking advice from this guy, because his current ME policy appears to mirror the policy goals outlined in Zbigniew's 1997 book.

1. Directly from British Geostrategy circa 1904 (Mackinder et. al.)
That kind of thinking leads to World Wars.

4. The whole "Truth and Lies" video
by Mike Ruppert is worth watching. It's mind-blowing, considering that he gave the speech barely a month after 9-11. He starts by connecting the dots between CIA and the biggest financial institutions (almost all CIA chiefs were banksters, and it was founded by banksters), and names names that have figured prominently in the bailouts.

I'm not necessarily a fan of Mike Ruppert's later excursions, but this particular video is all fact, very little conjecture (and a little chest-thumping from an ex-cop, but it should not detract from the essence of what he's saying).

8. He's smart in the same way Kissinger or Cheney is smart
too bad Brzezinski never used his intellect for peaceful or moral purposes.

12. Brzezinski advised Carter to arm and train
the Mujahideen against the Soviets in Afghanistan. That worked - until you realize that they created, armed and financed what is today known as Al Qaeda. Yes, including Osama. Good job!

You might want to read this "no regrets" interview with Zbig:

Zbigniew Brzezinski: How Jimmy Carter and I Started the Mujahideen
(Interview of Zbigniew Brzezinski Le Nouvel Observateur (France), Jan 15-21, 1998)

Note how in the interview Zbig brags that the covert CIA action he and Carter designed was not a response to the Soviets invading Afghanistan, but that it had occurred earlier, and was intended to *draw Soviets into Afghanistan*. He basically admits that CIA, at his behest, staged a proxy war with Russia.

Result: over a million Afghans dead, and who knows how many Russian soldiers. Comparison to Kissinger is entirely warranted. In a world that truly values human life, Brzezinski would be rotting in prison.

13. Yes, I have read about the "Carter Doctrine," fashioned by Dr. Brzezinski. It was kind of a letdown
Since Jimmy Carter is one of my heroes and Dr. Brzezinski is a brilliant man, predicted the outcome of the war in Iraq long before we came to the impasse that eventually transpired. But I appreciate the additional information, and will read it with interest. Thank you.

I see that you are in Poland. My mother is Polish, both grandparents emigrated from there, and I did understand the language when my Babci was still living and Polish is my mother's first language. So I particularly appreciate your perspective on Dr. Brzezinski.

dziękuję bardzo!

Rhiannon :hi:
