1. I have tremendous faith in the
intelligence and integrity of our President.

I am a Pacifist.

These are not easy days for me. The past eight years before the election of Obama caused me to hate more things than I ever have in my life and that was also painful and against my nature. I really despised the previous administration. I still despise them and feel they will never be held accountable for their crimes. I have NO power in that regard and have to live with that ugliness inside me. I really don't want to let it go, either, truth be known. I want to despise them.

Are we into such a deep, despicable hell-hole of a mess that there is no safe quick way out for our troops? I naively hoped there was even knowing I was heading for a let down. I cringe at the escalation. I hate it.

I HATE IT.

But I must have faith that this man who is our President is intelligent enough to do what he feels is the best in a deplorable situation. I guess my faith in his character and intelligence outweighs my need to hate what is happening.

My head is a chaotic place these days!

peace,
Lilly

2. Man you really need
to look at this response from Britney Spears on her views on George Bush

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x409070

There is no difference to what you are saying. For FCKS SAKE just because someone write the
sequence of letters DEMOCRAT in front of their names does not make them do the right thing.

George w Bush was at least watched by us all as we knew he was evil - Obama does WORSE but because we "trust"
him we don't question his evil.......get a grip man - the guy is doing the same, if not worse than Bush - but he does it
un-noticed....in my book that makes him MORE dangerous.

He has escalated every war there is including Iraq, Iran, Palestine, Venezeula, and Pakistan - he has endorsed and reaffirmed the
very worst of the restrictions on civil liberties enacted by Bush including the Patriot act, restrictions of FOI (no more Abu Graib photos - at least we got to SEE what Bush did)

He has stood by an endorsed the removal of the public option, done NOTHING on global warming,
this list is endless my friend, and you are the Britney Spears of Corporate take over of the USA.

4. First of all...
I am not a *man*.

And I don't *need* to do anything.
And I am not your friend.

I could take a lot of words to answer your shallow remarks...but bottom line is I don't care what you think of my opinion. :)

Peace,
Lilly

8. Wow... the kumbaya crowd sure does turn nasty when the thin skin is slighty scratched, LOL
If you are a pacifist, then you can't support war. Period. Else, you're just a person trying to have it both ways...

It is like a Catholic who is an agnostic: not willing to do the hard work implied by the faith, but also wanting to have the correct entrance ticket in case that St. Peter was correct.

5. I am usually a good judge of character
I KNEW that Bush was an evil liar just by watching and listening to him. Try as I might, I cannot see anything in Obama's eyes or voice or mannerisms that makes me think that he is anything but moral and honest and caring. I don't agree with everything he does, especially the troop increase, but I don't know everything he knows, either.

...analyzing a person's eyes or other mannerisms, it ultimately goes to the popular phrase: "You will know a person by the fruits."

What added insult to injury was that Bush was so aesthetically dissatisfying. Obama is polished, but is carrying forward with a lot of the things we loathed Bush for.

...it is almost hypnotic, wouldn't you say? Almost as if he is trying to neuro-linguistically program his listeners with his soothing oratorical skill...

Wow, in that I agree with everything you wrote above, this rhetorical prowess only underscores the deception of our current President.

(Comment was in response to audas...not sure why things formatted the way they did)...

16. Feel free to read...
Edited on Mon Dec-14-09 01:27 PM by lyonspotter
...the comment from audas to which I was responding (that is the context of my comment: addressing his reply to a prior commenter). If we didn't like how Bush sold the wars and all the other changes he imposed, then there must be something Obama is doing to sell them that gets life-long pacifists to stand down when they wouldn't have thought for a second of standing down when Bush was President... Presentation of argument is definitely part of it. You've never been charmed by a charming person before? Not a once? Presentation of argument is not all of it, but it plays a very important role in the current perpetuation of the status quo.

3. I feel exactly the same way. I hate all war, including this one, but
I love this President and trust his judgment and integrity. It's such a dichotomy my brain (and heart) hurts.

Thanks for putting your thoughts about this (and mine) into words.

11. I just can't help it...
But I hear George Bush and his "moral clarity" speaking when his mouth moves on this one. I sincerely wish I wasn't at that point, but I just can't help that I am.

13. I believe that this board has been invaded.
It appears to me that many of the latest members to sign on to this board sing the same tune. How they supported Obama and how they are heart broken because he has let them down. In many instances I strongly question their feigned loyalty to Obama. Almost without hesitation they disregard just who is responsible for this intolerable mess. The fact of the matter is that Obama, if he had been depraved politician of the cut that dominates the Republican Party and unwilling to take on a situation that to many appears nearly hopeless, he would have safely sat in the senate and not taken on this nightmare and Herculean task.

Rather than welcoming the opportunity to join in a joint determination to face our difficulties, he is struggling against an immoral cabal of Republicans who have sworn to oppose anything that he attempts to right the ship. They are so determined to absolutely crush him that they are more than willing to jeopardize the very welfare of the Republic. I loath these treasonous Cheney pigs. So you can safely conclude that I am not in the least impressed with the shallow critiques of his decisions and I am especially suspicious of his "disappointed fans." Spare me the anguish that we must be willing to always question the decisions of the president. Question all you wish, but in the same light I will also question the motivation behind the criticism.

18. The motivation? Shallow critiques?
Shallow Critiques? How about the sheer opposition to illegal war, invading sovereign nations, and then going back on pledges to remove troops from Iraq? Etc... ...Of course escalation of war will not sit right with a pacifist.

And before you go questioning my motives, per se, watch these videos I made against Bush, pasted below. What motivates my criticisms of Obama is a spirit of consistency. Besides, who are you to question the motives of another person, as if you can see into the thoughts and feelings of another human being? You will know them by their fruits.

Re McCain/Bush: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDT99NgiNyM

If one is a true pacifist, then that person is regardless of who is in the White House.

14. Bush took us into a very dark, very deep canyon
It's not like we can just levitate out of it.

Precipitous actions are seductive, but usually not effective.
I support the president because I know he's turning the wheel on this
ship -- but I do not expect the ship to turn on a dime.
It's moving, and moving in the right direction.
The reason we know is by how loudly the most reactionary, racist and
ignorant elements of the society are screaming.
