10. Shows what can be done if a politician tells the truth and doesn't put himself first.
Howard is living the dream.

7. I have to agree with Howard Dean on this one
To do otherwise is to take Republican stalling tactics at face value, instead of the cynical ploy that those tactics are. We cannot counter 'tactics designed to kill ANY reform' with 'in good faith bargaining'.

Why does Matthews, and the Senate itself, consider itself to be above partisan rancor? It's not. It's an adversarial, political body, the same as any other body of elected representatives. The fiction that the Senate is a gentleman's club of compromise is the conventional wisdom that must be dismissed. The only compromise comes from Democrats, and that's not really compromise, is it?

13. Kicked and recommended, but I don't believe Matthews is so dim as to cite
"conventional wisdom" without understanding where Dean is coming from, Matthews is just playing stupid in order to tow the corporate supremacist line, that's all he's concerned about, protecting the interests of commercial buying "health" insurance corporations over the best interests of the American People.

"Destroying the Congress" my ass, that was the same kind of hyperbolic, chicken shit spewed forth by most of the corporate media; including Matthews which enabled his heartthrob; Bush the Least to power, actually counting the votes would have been too much stress for the nation in 2000 without his ilk getting the vapors.

Thanks for the thread, ihavenobias.
