Full transcript and 15 minute speech available here: http://www.c-spanvideo.org/congress/?q=node/77531&id=9084880

Transcript:

And why? Why all this discord and discourtesy, all this unprecedented, destructive action? All to break the momentum of our new, young President. They are desperate to break this President. They have ardent supporters who are nearly hysterical at the very election of President Barack Obama: the ``birthers,'' the fanatics, the people running around in rightwing militias and Aryan support groups. It is unbearable to them that President Barack Obama should exist. That is one powerful reason.

It is not the only one. The insurance industry, one of the most powerful lobbies in politics, is another reason. The bad behavior you see on the Senate floor is the last thrashing throes of the health insurance industry as it watches its business model die.

1. The health insurance industry watches its stock go up 20%
in a couple of days since learning the public option has been defeated and there will be no real reform. I'd say they're welcoming the death of their old business model, replacing it with a new improved one courtesy of the Republicans and Democrats in the Senate and a limp wristed President whom I was an ardent supported of until very recently.

5. Until the law goes into effect...
Then we will watch their stocks slide as does their bottom line. More people covered-more payouts. More pre-existing conditions-more payouts. More pay-outs-lower bottom line. Lower bottom line-lower stock prices.

7. Look a little deeper
You'll see Humana is at the same level they were in february. United is at only half of what they were in February. When the rest of the market was making a big recovery these stocks did nothing. These gains are just the response to avoiding a death sentence.

8. You consider a $2 jump in their share prices a big deal?
Chattem inc. closed up $23 more per share. They sell shampoo and Gold bond medicated powder. Here is what Humana's stock analysis says: Humana is highly leveraged to its largest customer--the federal government. Although the aging population and the likely expansion of public programs could provide Humana with future growth, we expect a Democrat-controlled Congress and the Obama administration to be unfriendly toward private Medicare plans in the coming years.

10. Humana's stock analysis says,"...we expect a Democrat-controlled Congress and the Obama
administration to be unfriendly toward private Medicare plans in the coming years." If you think that statement is credible after what just took place then all I can say is good luck.

6. 1 1/2 stars after 138 ratings. That's because it's embedded on The Washington Times' site
Here: http://tinyurl.com/WashiTimes

Needless to say, the comments there are even worse.
