Maya Wiley talks about the underreported issue of 2009: race. Or rather, the over-covered and under-analyzed issue.

1. She suggests that a white Democratic president

would not be called Hitler. I disagree. Any Democrat would be called Hitler, as well as a million other epithets, if he or she were white. I don't think the right-wing is getting very much 'juice' at all out of Obama being black. It might even be that some of their vituperative is diluted by Obama's skin color. I agree that the racial angle in their attacks exists, but it's just an angle. They were going to attack any Democrat with outrageous slander no matter who it was.

the idea that race has not been an examined issue is absurd.

3. I tend to agree with her...

...that yelling "You lie!" from the floor of Congress would not have happened to a white President. Might have happened to a female President, but never to a white male President. JMNSHO.
