We're talking Corps Commander here, that's not an easy position to attain. He has to be highly educated, motivated and well connected to obtain that rank.

I might expect this kind of response from a recruit, but from someone who spent 20+ years in the military, it is just about the worst type of behavior I can think of. The sheer stupidity of this man's statements makes me wonder how he made it through the military hierarchy at all.

For every wild eyed terrorist out there that claims Islam as their religion, there are hundreds of thousands of Muslims that just want to live in peace. The vast majority of them will never fly out of their countries of origin...and yet, if they did, they'd be subjected to further degradation by and humiliation by simply being a person who is "different".

If you're flying on a middle-eastern or north African passport, or have a Yemeni or Somali entry/exit stamp in your passport, you should probably face some pretty intense scrutiny before you get on a flight inbound to the U.S. I also think it would make sense to edit the current watch-lists--they're obviously completely useless if they've got 500,000 names on them and they're not cross indexed in any usable way.

I said "intense scrutiny." That might lead to a direct physical search, or it might not. Anyway, it's a false equivalence. If a fringe group of ideologically-driven Americans started trying to sneak explosives onto planes and blow them up, then sure--Americans might reasonably subject to additional security measures when boarding international flights. It would make perfect sense--certainly more sense than TSA indiscriminately strip-searching everyone, women and children and 80-year-old grannies alike.

Most of America's 7 million Muslims are decent, hardworking people who live quite lives and sacrifice for their children's future. In fact most are very loyal to America and these days most are loyal Democrats. Nothing horrifies them more than hearing about some kind of terrorist attack

I've spent close to half my life in the Islamic world and I have never felt safer or been treated kinder and with greater respect.
