News & Notes: Cenk is on vacation and will be back on the show tomorrow so Wes Clark Jr and Michael Shure will be hosting today. And I'm happy to report that I'm now officially in the studio in sunny (and warm) LA after a brutal 3 day drive from Chicago.

Summary: Everyone here already knows . As a contributor to a Buddhist magazine, guest co-host RJ Eskow was especially amused by the suggestion that there's no concept of forgiveness in Buddhism. Michael Shure points to the hypocrisy of so many prominent Christian elected officials with regard to their sex lives.

Here are 3 Easy Steps to Vote for TYT once every day through January 15th 2010 at :

1. Use the drop down box to select Best News or Politics Web Series

2. For Series Name enter The Young Turks

3. For Series URL enter www.theyoungturks.com

Note: Only ONE vote per IP address per day. If you live with someone who wants to vote, please encourage her/him/them to vote at work, school or a friend's house (only once per day). Also, it's optional to log-in to your Twitter account before you vote so that your nomination will post on your page.

1. TYT is even good without Cenk, but I miss Cenk. Oh the Fox hypocrisy..I remember
a certain Fox boy by the name of Bill...didn't he play around with women?

Did Brit Hume ever ask Billy to repent and join the Christian church?

I must have missed it.

Oh wait, Bill isn't a world famous golfer... got it!

2. I have to thank Hume for reminding me why I chose Buddhism over Christianity
Buddhists do not need to be preached to by some unknowing elitist Christian!

Part of the eight fold path is about right action and part of that is about sexual misconduct.

4. Right Action

The second ethical principle, right action, involves the body as natural means of expression, as it refers to deeds that involve bodily actions. Unwholesome actions lead to unsound states of mind, while wholesome actions lead to sound states of mind. Again, the principle is explained in terms of abstinence: right action means 1. to abstain from harming sentient beings, especially to abstain from taking life (including suicide) and doing harm intentionally or delinquently, 2. to abstain from taking what is not given, which includes stealing, robbery, fraud, deceitfulness, and dishonesty, and

3. to abstain from sexual misconduct. Positively formulated, right action means to act kindly and compassionately, to be honest, to respect the belongings of others, and to keep sexual relationships harmless to others.

Further details regarding the concrete meaning of right action can be found in the Precepts

6. K&R, but I think that this life crisis requires more than religious advice from a stranger...
And it's always great to hear from Wes Clark Jr.

My "vote was successful," thanks for the reminder! :-)

Wishing you a very Happy New Year in sunny California! :hi:
