I am thoroughly impressed by Yes for Oregon's jujitsu use of teabagger populism. Liberals everywhere, take note!

3. Yes and we don't have a sales tax, only income tax and now that people are out of work, the State of
Oregon is badly in debt. Many of these corporations promised increased jobs and revenues but of course the state cut them such huge hogs that they end up paying little or nothing.

4. 2/3's pay $10!?!
Wow... I'm curious if there will be a strong conservative rebuttal to those proposals citing the need to lower the corporate tax rate.

6. Not a rebuttal per se but I believe the $10 is a minimum yearly
Edited on Wed Jan-06-10 03:57 PM by kelly1mm
fee (kind of like a filing fee but included in their tax) and there is 0 remaining corporate tax as the corporation, on paper, did not have a profit and/or qualified for tax credits for some action that the state of Oregon decided it wanted to encourage. Generally, you only pay taxes on net profit, not gross income. So, if 2/3 of OR corps. had no paper profits then 2/3 would owe only the $10 filing fee

10. Sounds right.
So I wonder what the proposals do, close loop-holes that make profitable corps appear not profitable on paper, or just add to the minimum fee?
