12. I thought Jesus made the Pyramids.

At least, that's what I heard a TV preacher say once.

To drive his point home, he looked into the camera and said, "Now, you're not going to tell me that CAVEMEN made the pyramids, are you?"

16. Actually they would be more closely related to Zoroastrianism than Christianity.
The Persian Empire had a profound influence upon Egyptian culture.

25. I'm a Zoroastrian. Mazdayasni to be exact.
There are elements of the Egyptian pantheon that are very familiar. They symbology and even eschatology are very similar.

Did it in the off hours, after the crops were in. What else you going to do?

Of course the bible says the Israelis were slaves. Who you going to believe, the bible or science?

14. That could be true. If it is that meant they were basically prison labor.
That would explain why Moses was lobbying the Pharaoh to let his people go. He was trying to get a pardon from the Governor so to speak. It's being speculated that the reason the Pharaoh went after them was recidivism. They looted Egypt for the supplies they would need in the desert before leaving. When Pharaoh found out he went out to rearrest them.

19. Citation, please
You make claims on this thread unsupported by references to any scholarship by Egyptologists. There is no archeological evidence to support the presence of Jews held captive in Egypt as was written in the book of Exodus.

15. They may have found an account of the Exodus from the Egyptian perspective.
But just like everything else in antiquity. It's currently being disputed.

6. I'm not so sure.
I bet there were some freemen, especially skilled craftsmen, but I'm willing to bet that in a society which we KNOW used slave labor there were also slaves. I imagine the slaves got the worst jobs while the freemen got the better jobs in what was essentially a giant public works project which doubled as a visible symbol of the pharaoh's power.

There is no mention of the Pyramids in the Bible.

20. Nothing in the facts reported refutes, or disputes, the presence of slave labor

Sorry, folks. That some workers ate meat doesn't prove anything about all or most of them. That some were buried proves even less, given the ancient Egyptian view of death.

21. it drives reactionaries nuts
they insist life was nasty brutish and short for people everywhere, until ...well until WE got going and wrestled good things from the world.
Nyah nyah nyah they say, gloating over idea that all was suffering until...well until WE took over. And when facts are used to set right the misunderrstanding, they say 'lalaklala' and put fingers in their ears.

If you meant that to be a response, um, non-sequitur 101. Or rather, sweeping generalization, beginner's level.

22. Common modern words like "free" or "slave" may not adequately reflect ancient arrangements
In particular, "slaves" in some ancient civilizations could sometimes obtain high-status positions, and a "slave" might have various rights unfamiliar to slaves later in the antebellum American South. Nor does nominal "free" status invariably signify real freedom. Some "free" persons might be subject to extended involuntary conscription for public projects, for example. In the American South during the Jim Crow period, chaingang labor (involving individuals rented by the state to private companies following prison sentences handed out for minor offenses) can be regarded as a modification of older master-slave relationships, described by different legal language; and some sharecropping might be viewed as a variant of serfdom. Forms of both slavery and serfdom are known in ancient Egypt; the slaves could appear as war captives, as individuals who sold the right to their labor as exchange for debt, as objects in commerce

The fact that one finds complexes of small graves associated with the pyramid may shed some light on the social arrangements. But to claim these graves, or a bit of graffiti, proves the pyramids were built by "free" labor, may overstate the case considerably

24. My point, in more detail and more exact language. Thanks.

The video, or the exaggerated claims made from it, seem an example of isogesis - reading into - rather than exegesis - reading from.
