We've heard a lot of talk lately from deniers that cold temperatures are proof that there is no such thing as global waming.
It looks like it will be an annual event for me to remind people that winter still follows summer. Since deniers seem to want to believe the warming thing is all a lie, perhaps a little review is in order.

the climate crocks are getting a hearing around the world.
Climate Progress has posted the latest Crock here:

Please forward to as many contacts as possible, to help counteract the toxic Fox
denier memes.

2. K&R! What they say is that it can't be "global warming" if it's cold...
Climate change is a much more appropriate term, since this negates that inane argument... :eyes:

4. Good point, but I believe "Global Climate Change" is the current term of art.
So that "climate change" can't be confused... the climate of specific regions will change, but not all will be to become warm.

So including the word "global" is important.

10. Well it certainly is a shame it wasn't called "climate change" from the start
because it would have made it much more simple to defend to the dense.

11. You're exactly right...
Though they probably would have found a way around that one, too. As we've learned in recent history, any lie, repeated often enough, finds its way into the mainstream... :-(

6. That's the idiot's conclusion:
those dumb fucks can't understand the difference between climate and weather. And that climate change makes extreme weather, including very hot and very cold temperatures, as well as drought and floods, more likely.

7. hmm...
I am astonished at the number of DUers who can readily grasp the veracity of global climate change, but fail to understand that almost half of our nation's citizens are functionally illiterate.

Furthermore, a casual perusal of utube comments or similar posts by Joe or Jane Q. Public is sufficient to establish that Teh Stoopid is as pervasive as hell.

And, casting aspersions on those of us whose intelligences are 'near genius' by measures that are more temporal than anything else has become the favorite sport of the least intellectual among us.

How sad... how very, very sad.

8. K&R! Thanks so much for this. Could you do me a big favor, please?
I have posted a BBC documentary about Climate Change on my channel and an idiotic denier has posted something that shows he could do with some re-education. If you have time, please could send him your excellent video and post a response?

I'm so blown away by their stupidity. They claim to have a PHD, too. To try and prove his ridiculous theory, he sent a couple of videos of snow in England he'd filmed to try and add them as video responses. Of course I refused them.

These are their verbatim replies...

Do you know the difference between weather and climate? If not, Google is your friend.

Also, look up "Shutdown of thermohaline circulation".

Climate is teh sum of the world weather, which is in deep freeze today. Buy a thermometer. GW meant every day, everywhere was warmer. It was spin from nuclear power and its stooges.

12. I heard one of those gasbag radio hosts talking about this
while I was on the road. I don't know who he was, but his callers were talking about how the cold weather (in the U.S., of course, because that is the only place that matters) was G-d showing His sense of humor and there was no global warming. :eyes:
