Some countries, including Italy, are canceling Haiti's debt. The IMF is, typically, offering them a LOAN. That is classic Shock Doctrine technique, to get a country into debt when they are down and then corporate-fuck them forever after.

1. Kinda like what is going to happen to the US
U.S. NATIONAL DEBT CLOCK
The Outstanding Public Debt as of 19 Jan 2010 at 06:26:34 PM GMT is:

$12,277,334,336,362.36

The estimated population of the United States is 307,682,960
so each citizen's share of this debt is $39,902.58.

The National Debt has continued to increase an average of
$3.88 billion per day since September 28, 2007!
Concerned? Then tell Congress and the White House!

Wo who woll forigve our debt???

2. Wrong
How do you expect donors to give away millions that may not be paid back? Instead the loan should be monitored and adviced impartially. Do you expect the shareholders of the IMF to release funding for Haiti so easily?

3. Adviced?
:wtf: Maybe the donors and lenders can get their money back from the French and Swiss banks where the have-mores of Haiti have deposited it. When you look at Haiti, you can see that money has never been, is not now, and is not in the future of places like Cite Soleil, so asking those people to pay it back is like looking for water in the Sahara.

Maybe the best thing to do is not to give money at all, since it is so easy to convert it out of the country. Give them rebar and mortar and bulldozers and tree seedlings and seeds and fertilizers and tools. They can rebuild their country if given the tools and left alone. Right now, they have been reduced to digging mud with a sharp stick so they can eat.
