As this is such an incredible report by Cooper, I thought it was worth posting as a standalone thread instead of adding to the original.

1. I think I'm in love
I've always sort of had a fondness for AC, but this week has really been inspirational. I remember watching him the night before he left and I thought wow, he's going to be one of the first to get there, and he's been like an anchor (pun intended and yet so apropos). I think he's an honest-to-goodness good-hearted person.

2. I've always liked him, but was a bit disappointed when he seemed
to be veering Right -- or at least parroting the RW talking points.

I'll never forget during the Primary Debates when AC said to turn to the person on your left and tell them... Dennis said, There's nobody on my left, and AC said "I'm not sure that's possible, sir."

3. So, millions of people around the world are desperately donating millions of dollars to try to
get food to Haiti, which is blocked by a bottleneck at the airport, and this piece of shit store owner is trying to _prevent_ "looters" from getting at food? And this is what CNN chooses to focus on? Hmm.

Also, I mean, it's great that kid got out of the line of fire for a few minutes. It's sure a lucky break that the cameras were rolling, wasn't it Anderson?

Bleh, got to take off my cynical hat.

5. I commend him on sticking around in a tense, dangerous situation
I think he is wrong to call the people there looters. That is a loaded term. They are just trying to survive a very extreme situation.

8. And I agree with you on the store owner
The perspective you gave was spot on. Seems like he went to a lot of trouble to protect the food (if that's what it really was), too. Also, I find it strange that the food remained in his store for so long and only now he decided to take it and run.

4. I was hungry and you gave me no food...
... I was thirsty and you gave me no drink.
... I was sick or in prison, and you did not visit me.

... Then the pharisees replied:
... "When did we see you hungry, and give you no food?
... or thirsty and give you no drink?

... "When you did not do this to the least of my children.
... begone to the hell prepared for you.

6. It's not as if these people could be going to a grocery store and buying the food they need.
Desperate people do desperate things. I just hope the relief distribution problems get solved before things get even wore.

9. This is down to survival now...these people have had no food or water....
they have to do whatever they can to survive.
I hope it doesn't come down to many dying from the scavaging.
Scavaging has to happen anyways..in that kind of heat the food won't keep long (unless it is canned or bottled)...anything in freezers etc will be melted and starting to rot.....if it feed people..let them have it.
This is no different than what you or I will do if it comes down to surviving or not. People will fight for food and water at first...and maybe worse if it lasts too long.
We all need to try to be prepared here in America to last at least a week or longer if you can in case of a national disaster.
It will take at least that long for help to arrive if it is going to arrive in a disaster.
