2. These guys are my favorite charity. I don't know when they finally set up,
but they had some setbacks.

Doctors Without Borders will be in my will.

They did experience some setbacks because they U.S. was controlling the airspace above Haiti and Doctors Without Borders was not allowed to land their plan in Haiti. The doctors' plane was loaded with tens of millions of tons of supplies and equipment. They were forced to go through the Dominic Republic which caused serious delays. Grrrrrr.

4. Check your facts and if the had "10 of millions of tons of supplies"
there would be no need for any more aid

5. Check.
Doctors without Borders have "has successfully landed five planes with a total of 135 tons of supplies into into Port-au-Prince. Another 195 tons of supplies will need to be granted permission to land in the airport in the coming days in order to continue MSF's scale up of its medical relief operation in Haiti."

6. Check again...that is a long way from "tens of millions of tons"
Edited on Thu Jan-21-10 08:07 PM by ProgressiveProfessor
Per your citation, MSF planes carry less that 30 tons per load, and per others here are side loaders. A single C-17 carries 80 tons and can unload in much less time. Using the C-17 as the benchmark 10 million tons would take 125,00 flights. Care to recheck your figures

I think my error is obvious. If you would like to do the math. Have at it.
