1. They almost got to the point, but didn't...
It's the message of "It's god's will. Accept your lowly state. Look we are so powerful we can give your lot useless electronic devices! God wants you this way."

Plus it's just stupid. Send some antibiotics instead!

5. Funny how they thank God for survival
When it was ostensibly God who caused the situation in the first place. Personally, I believe that the Earth had a stress fracture that shifted, causing poorly constructed buildings to fall at random on top of people, and those who survived did so out of blind chance. If you give God credit for the good things, you have to give him the blame for the bad, and that absolves you of any responsibility whatsoever. These people have enough on their plate right now without that. Keep your Bibles. Send them food, clean water and temporary housing. It will mean more to them in the long run.

I wish people would focus more on this life here and now than obsessing about some imagined next life. Might make them better people.

6. Actually, though, a LOT of people get recruited into a new
religion because they face a crisis. This is why they didn't drop the bibles in BEFORE the quake. People that are in a vulnerable situation or grieving are ripe for a slick-talking religious recruiter.

7. this is the very reason
why the military build up was questionable at a time when food, water, medicene and doctors are needed not solar powered bibles with parables of imperialism and colonialism.

11. yeah... because starving people need indoctrination
the religious make me sick when I see how they take advantage of people's misery and hopelessness. Give them food and water, that's what they need, not this shit!

13. Wrong use of alternative energy IMO!
I need to send the Haitians a maintenance book & kit on how to wire up a portable cooker or re-charge a cellphone using the cells extracted from those bibles.
