21. I know otherwise perfectly
reasonable people that wholeheartedly believe in this nonsense. At least they SAY they believe in it.

These are generally people that also believe the earth is 6,000 years old. So they are a bit off in some vital understanding.

4. I kind of like how they say god's will then they do crap like breed cows trying to get a perfect red
in order to make their prediction come true, making it their will not gods. But then thinking about how they deny global warming that too fits in with their dooms day plans, weather gets crazier every year, storms get worse and these 15 million nit wits believe thats a good thing. It's official the lunatics have taken over the mental ward.

7. What truly shocks me is not what they believe,
But they get to present this with rebuttal from Christians who know the bible and know that they are full of shit.

I know the bible and could right now write pages of rebuttal to this myself...but instead they just dismiss them ans crazes and tell themselves that the crazes don't matter....well they do when they gain poser. And no one dare tell me that the crazy ones have never been in power before.

And what is more shocking is that the end time prophesies of Jesus are totally ignored, because his prophesies are recorded there too.
And the theme of it is "Take heed that no man deceive you" and then goes on to say that many will come in his name and false Christs and false prophets will arise and deceive many...."even if it were possible the very elect"
And so the problem they have is that they may well be the ones that they hate.
They may well consider that they might just have been deceived and they might be the ones serving the anti Christ.

Where are the Christian leaders that might understand this simple truth and speak up?

8. By exposing the BS fundies the main stream religions will expose themselves
and call attention to the fact that they too have questionable beliefs, so keep your mouth shut and count the money coming in.

At the bank.

Religions are all ancient superstitions used to keep people in check. It's ancient government. Priests, popes, shamans, lamas, witchdoctors... they're all getting power and making money off the credulous and scared. And the age of this scam is all it's got for authority now.

BTW...what simple truth? The stuff in the Bible is just as ridiculous as their nutty beliefs.

12. The simple truth that it is not what it says.
And if you see no value in it that is fine. But I disagree with your description of the origin of religion and it's purpose.

And this attitude toward it will not change a thing, and in fact just enables them.

13. The ones actively trying to push a problematic world full of wars to try & hasten a return are
going to be quite shocked when they get what they have coming to them. I and most Christians wish these sick extremists (I don't know what else to call them, they're extreme and they seem to want destruction like terrorists) would call themselves something else. Remember the story of the extremist religious right wingers wanting to butch up Jesus in the bible so he's not so 'soft' or 'wimpy'??? Talk about wicked.

14. Max Blumenthal went to the "The Christians United for Israel" thing & interviewed Tom Delay (Video)
Rapture Ready: The Christians United for Israel Tour
Max Blumenthal's latest takes us on a shocking and at times bizarre tour of right-wing Pastor John Hagee's annual Washington-Israel Summit, blowing the cover off the Christian Zionist movement in the process. Starring Joe Lieberman, Tom DeLay, Pastor John Hagee, Ambassador Dore Gold and a host of rapture-ready evangelicals praying for Armaggedon.

16. K&R! Great review that needs to be watched in full
I always enjoy Cenk and Jonathon Kim's reviews of movies and documentaries and this is probably the best review they've done together, IMHO.

Scary stuff indeed! Thanks a lot for sharing, man.

19. These are the same people
that we used to scoff at 60-70 years ago as a bunch of oddballs, dismiss them out of hand and justify their existence on the basis that all types of organized groups will always have their fringe elements. Well guess what? They've effectively taken over, running much of the government even managing to elect one of their born again members, a person who was so ill suited to be President that even the idea should have been considered insane. And that particular price will be paid for years to come if we last that long. These people have to be overthrown, not just not elected. It's not enough to show them up as wackos and hypocrites, they've got every excuse under the sun for their irresponsible behavior and couldn't care less what happens to mankind because it's all preordained. I'll never forget a documentary I saw 5 or 6 years ago on one of the MSM about the evangelical movement and one particular segment in particular when an upper middle class mother was being interviewed and with her eyes bulging when on about how she could hardly wait until the rapture and hoped it would happen then and there. Her kids were thoroughly brainwashed into the same thinking and it was pitiful to see what their hopes and aspirations were limited to. That's when my eyes were first opened and I was convinced that something has to be done.

20. As long as I remember there have always been fictitious villains
Edited on Mon Feb-01-10 05:53 AM by AsahinaKimi
Whose plan was to destroy the world. Its scary to think there are real people in our own country who WANT TO BE THOSE villains ..because their religion tells them its going to happen.

To think someone can be in a position of political power, who can simply make their beliefs come true by starting a war, they think is going to come anyway.

Of Conservatives who don't care about Global warming or Pollution because the world, in their view, is ending soon.

These people need to be stopped. They are the real enemies of the world, and are the ones who are trying to prevent a possible great future for mankind, simply because SOME book tells them the world is going to end. Their Beliefs are going to GET US ALL KILLED.

22. One thing that is obvious
to most outsiders is that "these people" obviously have very little FAITH. They don't believe god can bring about their desired "end times" without their prodding and "help." Such a weakling - their god.

Another huge inconsistency is the way they fight the very thing they believe will bring about their wishes - a peaceful world - isn't that supposed to be the very thing that kicks off the end times?

It's hard to get your mind around the way their brains work - so contradictory and illogical.

26. incredibly scary. It should be remembered that about 1/3rd of Evangelicals believe this firmly
Edited on Tue Feb-02-10 03:13 AM by Douglas Carpenter
fortunately, it is not all or even most Evangelicals - but it is a whole lot of people including a number of people holding positions of very real political power and enormous influence who do absolutely do hold this view - a view that is in many ways more extreme than Osama bin Laden - held by a number of people who hold far more real political power and influence than Al Qaeda.
