The watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) “called on Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate the destruction of emails” and reported that “he destruction of these emails represents a blatant violation of the Federal Records Act (FRA) and may break criminal laws.”

In a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing today, Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) said the deleted records pose “very serious concerns about government transparency and whether the {OPR} had access to all of the information relevant to the inquiries.”

Leahy then asked whether the DOJ has initiated an investigation into the circumstances behind the destruction of the emails. Acting Deputy Attorney General Gary G. Grindler said the DOJ is in the process of trying to establish the facts for why the emails disappeared. Grindler also studiously avoided suggesting that any foul play was behind the disappearance of the emails, stating that there was “nothing nefarious” about the deletions. Leahy then drew a parallel between the Yoo emails and the emails that the Bush White House previously claimed had disappeared:

2. I respectfully suggest -
- that we wait for an outcome before forming any impressions.

Speaking for myself, I've had my fill of hearings and investigations, most of which commence with great fanfare then evaporate and are forgotten.

There is no real motivation on the part of either the Senate or the House Judiciary Committees to redress the most egregious crimes against the nation and its People. For example, our country was misled by an obviously deceptive conspiracy into invading and occupying a non-aggressive, non-offending nation and this massive crime has been virtually ignored, as has the malicious Valerie Plame-Wilson, Brewster/Jennings treason. Neither of these major crimes have been afforded one-tenth of one percent of the attention paid to the Bill Clinton blowjob.

I hope something substantive comes of Leahy's latest investigation but I won't hold my breath. The United States Congress has devolved into an analogue of professional wrestling with lots of noise and impressive posturing, but in the end it's all a big act in which the audience is the real loser.

3. al lawyers working at the same firm, USA, covering up for the one client, USA
Don't you get the impression they draw the line when it comes to revealing crimes to the world (the People), like a bunch of lawyers in defense mode? Obamaisn't the People's Advocate, he is leading the Bush defense, because, like it or not Bush crimes are USA crimes!! What a frikkn' pickle.

That said, maybe there are some corruption grand juries at work. That could explain retaining so many USAs.
