This also highlights why teabaggery doesn't have much of a future: when any of their members comes up with a halfway sensible suggestion that steps outside the simpleton slogans they've been slurping like Jonestown Kool-Aid, they shout it down.

Do we really need military bases in Europe? Think of the money we would save and how fast the deficit would shrink if we closed several of those bases.

8. De-activate permanent overseas units and bases, end these wars and eliminate our nuclear arsenal...

...that way you can probably reduce military spending to about $200 billion or less. All without having to even cut domestic units. I would even go further to the point of cutting to the point where recruits needing criminal and education waivers would be banned from entering military service. But I'm not sure how much cutting would be needed.
