if Obama took the troops out the day he entered office and the middle east blew up because the medieval Saudis and the right wing racist Israelis took upon themselves to police Iraq and Afghanistan A) it would have been a WW3 scenario becuase of the oil and you'd see Russia and China involved too and B) even if it wasn't WW3 the consequences would have been pinned on the dems for decades to come. Obama is doing what gets the dems votes in this right wing country, if you know any better run for office or vote for Nader, let's see how much change you can get done.

I love the way some Americans justify the dumbest moves with these "ifs". If the Martians were to invade you and took over Washington DC, then you would have to ask Canada and Mexico for help. So I recommend you take some of your weapons and store them in those countries, so they can use them to help you when and if the Martians invade. Which is as likely as Israel and Saudi Arabia invading Iraq. The Israelis don't invade anybody other than Lebanon - and given the way it went in their most recent attack, I doubt they would have the stomach to come close to Ramadi, never mind Baghdad. As for the Saudis, they don't fight.

you are naive: Iraq is Russia's backyard. Unless the west wants the russians or the chinese controlling it someone will do the job. You can't both state that electric cars are just not practical and at the same time ignore the fact that Iraq has the largest sweet crude reserve beside the Saudis. There are the politicians, their backers, and then there are the citizens who represent the "voices of reason."

And increasingly those citizens are seen as a threat.

As far as Franken being upset by Karzai's actions, Karzai's actions make sense from the perspective of a leader of a nation in that region of the world. As the actions of someone expected to be a patsy for our national goals, they are not favorable actions to us. but why should Karzai care about us? "Us" is nothing more than Motorola, Raytheon, Monsanto, Boeing, Honeywell, Nike, et al.

6. These folks are dedicated, informed, courageous activists.

Some of them were recently arrested in front of the White House protesting the wars and were held for 24 hours in poor conditions. We need about 10 million more people like them who have the courage to act on their convictions.

He could vote to defund the war just as Congress did in the Viet Nam era. Al is smart, he listens well, he'll discuss issues with anyone and he is courageous. He has the potential of being a peace leader in the Senate.

What has been accomplished after 8 1/2 years in Afghanistan????????? The money is needed here for jobs and education and roads and mass transit, etc. etc. etc. etc.
