This country is going down because we primarily did not heed Ike's words about the MIC...more likely a fizzle than a bang though.

ways to look at the current crises.

Right now, it is best to divest one's self of the spin of illusions that are meant to support the social and economic order -- job one for the Status Quo. You can go with the shock of realization after-the-fact, or you can submit yourself to a gradual realization that affords you time to go through some stages and various forms of preparation. It is a significant choice.

That's a personal decision and knee-jerk reactions can be a facet of denial. In a crises, who would you rather be with? When this hits those who are still in comfort bubbles, (the last ones to pop) their shock and awe will not be very useful. Understanding goes a long way, no matter how upsetting or depressing it may seem.

I've followed Orlov's perspective for several years and it jibes with other information available. You can add Bageant, Baker and Kuntsler to that list of people who, from their own research and understanding, offer insights and ideas when it comes to the impending systemic collapse. Orlov is certainly worth considering because of his comparisons.
